Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
Rusty, and all the other pilots, I think you are faster than me. My engine runs with a standard tank, not a blader type, and I had only 3 flight with this Polecat, the engine is not really tuned...

Well, hang in there boys. One thing I've learned in my very short competitive control line career is the judges don't always see what we think we see. And they are good at their job.

P.S. later today I'll write about Joe Nall. Boy am I tired and sore, but in that good sort of way. We had more fun that I thought was allowed. I hooked up with Microflitedude Matt and his Brother and Dad. We had a very successful day outfitting and trimming his refurbished Ringmaster.

Rusty, I'm going to have to come down there and give you a piano lesson.. I see some real potential there!
Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
Roddie, I think if I were a musician I would be good. I played drums in band back in my school days, and recently gave them all away I still play one helluva mean bar table though.

Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
Hey , Ron was able to see my A-7 fly, in time for the contest. He even shot video of it. The results of the flight were so pathetic, I urged him to not submit it. I think mine did not make 10 laps, which were required. The engine I chose for the A-7 was just not up to snuff, for hauling around this plane. I will do a better job with an engine, if the event is offered in 2015. Whew, it was fun putting together a couple of airplanes, though.

Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
Gus,
There has been talk of doing it again this year. Ideally we would do it again in October or November then make it once a year in the fall.
I have some rule change ideas that might speed the planes up and simplify things at the same time.
Feedback welcomed.

Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
October is the most reliably pretty weather month of a South Carolina Fall. Lots of clear blue days
Maybe the judges have some Ideas on how we can improve the functionality of our videos. I hope they're not having a difficult time getting reliable times off of them. I know the hi res ones run smoother if you click the gear icon on the Youtube player and select 480p. And watch directly on the 'tube rather than on an imbed. Next time I'll force mine down to 480p resolution. My black plane was hard to see.
The suspense is killing me.

Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
Rusty,
I've heard back from two judges, waiting on the third. Times between the first two were incredibly consistent so I may call it with two judges if I don't hear from #3 soon. Also waiting to hear back from a prize sponsor.

Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
How about opening up the window for flight submissions?
Weather varies greatly across the country so maybe if we had a 6 month window to fly we could get more submissions in.

Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
Just a suggestion here.. I would imagine that NASS models of this class are equipped with high-power rotary-valve engines. If we keep this a "reed-engine" event (which I think we should) maybe the line-length should be reduced to 35 feet from 42? I think this would afford easier launches; whether R.O.G. or hand-launch, and also make the tiny models a little less sensitive to the inevitable breeze that always seems to come out of nowhere.
The 42 foot line-length was the only thing that really surprised me about the rules; given the engine type.

Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
I have prizes in place and have heard back from two judges. My third judge is not responding to messages and has a reputation for taking a long time to reply. The times I have from the two judges are extraordinarily close. Are any of the entrants opposed to me averaging time from two judges and calling the race ?

As long as the Judge isn't offended then I am OK with it. Can you give him a phone call?

Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
Hi Jim
I would like to see all the guys flying their planes and see how it was done.
Could someone please make all the links available of the flights for me to go and check the videos?
Will appreciate it.

Re: CEF Reed Speed official video entries.
Thank you Jim
I can see the space under the pictures where the video should be, but I cannot see them or click on them. I do not know why.
Maybe it is some setting on my side.

Yes that worked perfectly.
I can never watch the videos that the guys post, if there is not a link.
Do not know why.
