Need any Snow?
Does any of our Southern members need any snow? We had none yesterday and now have 12"-15" with drifts much deeper.... This is the most snow we've had since the blizzard of 1982.

Re: Need any Snow?
We had that much a month ago. You just got a start to a good base for snowmobile trails.

Re: Need any Snow?
You can have the snow, I see you're already having fun Jeepin' in the snow. Do you want some cold? Its -19°F right now with a -40°F windchill and its supposed to drop to -26°F with a -55°F windchill.

10 degrees here, headed for a predicted 2 degrees. No snow, however, other than a light dusting.
Update --- currently 7 degrees.

The Minnesota weather was on the news over here last night. We have 9 to 10 °C with much wind and rain.

Re: Need any Snow?
I missed Travis' snowstorm, and got myself another layer of ice with just enough snow for some sissy drifts around the vehicles. TV says I got 3 degrees, with a nice healthy North Wind trying to drive it through this old house.
Just grateful I still got power up here !!!
So much for me trying to miser my tank of propane through two winters...Light'r Up !!!

Similar situation here, but I've attributed the strong wind in the living room to last night's black beans and rice!!!
Like Kim, I've tried to conserve gas, but I did break down and turn the house temp up to 57 degrees since I was a bit worried about pipes freezing.
Re: Need any Snow?
Yesterday, I took Suzanne's friend Angie to her house in Renult, after her and Suz got off work. Drive down there was pretty uneventful, seen a bunch of people think they can drive in this stuff with 2wd vehicles. Anyway, on the way back a mini-van was in the middle of the road and I just got over enough for them to pass and a snow drift sucked me into the ditch, but I've been it that situation before, so this time I stood on the gas and made through the ditch and out into the field. I then drove in the field for about a mile before I could get back out. Glad I was in the Jeep as the truck would have been stuck in the ditch
Anyone that doesn't have 4WD doesn't need to be out in this...

Travis:
Out here in Washington State 4X4 alone often isn't enough if you MUST drive in heavy snow.
A winch and a cable fairlead will get you through most anything. When winching from a living tree protective padding should be used to protect the tree. (We have LOTS of living trees to use as "dead men".)

I don't mean to seem callous, I feel for you folks that are suffering through all this record global warming but down here its been hot and wet. I'm getting rooked out of the only comfortable temps we have down here at this time of year. That been said its mid 80s now, tonight is going to low 40s, a huge swing for us.

Re: Need any Snow?
Here in N. Smithfield, RI.. the weather has been downright CRAZY... We got 8-10 inches of snow Friday.. it was 1 degree F. on Sat. morning... yesterday was in the 30's.. (took the bobsled out.. FUN!!) Today the high was 60.. rainy... and WINDY!!! I had the kitchen slider all the way open... was down here in the basement and heard an increasing roar that actually scared me... I ran upstairs.. which caused our 3 cats to freak out! (they were all near the slider..) One kitty tried to run through the slider and tore the screen wide-open! Cats were going vertical!! It was a HUGE wind gust.. that I'm surprised didn't take trees down. The snow is completely GONE... and tonight, it's forecasted to drop into the single digits... There will be an icy glaze all over everything. As of 5:00 p.m. it's 43 degrees... I hope the highway departments treat the roads before it gets too far down into the 30's... because I have a scheduled band rehearsal 15 mi. away.

It's snowed here 3 or 4 times in my 39 years. Only time I saw more than 1" was in 2008 when we got 5". The entire city shut down. LOL
