Schroeder Cox based engine plans
Has anyone got copies of the Schroeder Simple single or the Schroeder "Little D" plans?

Re: Schroeder Cox based engine plans
No plans from me... but it is an extended crank pin to make a rear rotor engine.
I am kicking an idea around to index into the hole of a diesel/KB crank for a rear rotor back plate. Just swap it on. A venturi and nva from a teedee would be for simplicity.
If you carefully measure, then replicate a bee case and tee dee timing you should arrive at a similar apparatus.
Yes, I sorta have most of the tooling for this, but some is in boxes the way I received them...in pieces.

ive always pondered having an olympic .15 rear drum version of an 049, use a tee dee venturi and NV and machine and balance a crank with a longer indexed crank pin, an aluminum housing for the barrel, bush the crankcase and rotor housing with most likely bronze. and have one of those cages on it for mounting like the mangusta dr 049.

I don't have these plans but they look like nice engines.
Maybe post a want thread here. Lots of oldtimers frequent here and they may have a set.

I have converted bees to rear valve induction as per Phil's posting but I want to build some to Schroeder's plan and dieselise them.
They only use the 049 cylinder and piston and so - although the build is time consuming - it is cheap!
I like the look of these - a sort of classic vintage style.

Valentine made a motor very similar to the one you describe. It was very compact, and could be beam mounted. Very nice. Check out the pictures here:looperdude wrote:ive always pondered having an olympic .15 rear drum version of an 049, use a tee dee venturi and NV and machine and balance a crank with a longer indexed crank pin, an aluminum housing for the barrel, bush the crankcase and rotor housing with most likely bronze. and have one of those cages on it for mounting like the mangusta dr 049.

You will have to look down the thread a little, but there are two valentine engines and the DR is the second one. Andy

I meant to say the DR is the first picture. Andyanm2 wrote:Valentine made a motor very similar to the one you describe. It was very compact, and could be beam mounted. Very nice. Re: Schroeder Cox based engine plans
Ian, look 2/3rds of the way down this page... both "Simple Single" and "Simple Twin" by Roger Schroeder are listed there. It states $40/ea. engine... for a series of plans/articles... don't know if it's exactly what your looking for though... also listed (1/2 way down the page) is "The Deezil Engine" by Bert Striegler and Roger Schroeder; originated by "Gotham Hobby" in 1947 or 1948 and replicated by the two men. There also 2 more spark ignition engines, featuring the work of Roger Schroeder; an "Ohlsson" .12 and "Midget" .11
Look down the list... you'll see them.

Thanks - I looked at this some time ago but they don't take paypal or credit card. Only Western Union which is exorbitant and not "Strictly" safe.
Schroeder used to have his own site and sell castings and plans. The plans were reasonably priced with low postage. I am hoping to find someone who wants to dispose of the plans.
Thank you all though for your assistance and giving me more places to look.

Yes... I was nervous when I read the payment policy; especially knowing of your geographic location.ian1954 wrote:Thanks - I looked at this some time ago but they don't take paypal or credit card. Only Western Union which is exorbitant and not "Strictly" safe.

The thought of building a model engine to run... fascinates me! Reading about how you guys take-on that task, is really something!
I am not what you'd call a machinist... but I have recent experience with CNC "Vertical Miller's" (Fanuc, Fadal, Bridgeport...) and some "Master-Cam" and "ProtoTrak" programming. I was getting my "feet wet"... when I got laid-off last May. I had become quite efficient with "set-up" and holding tolerances to "tenths"... but I'm not so sure at my age; whether I want to go further with that trade. "Mathematics" was never my strongpoint... and I had a LOT to learn about methods, sequence, speeds, feeds etc. I had a lot of trouble learning how to use the "micro-height" inspection device in the shop... it was just plain confusing to me. This was frustrating, and caused me to doubt my own abilities. The fact that I was working with "seasoned veterans" only added to my feelings of insecurity.
OK... is my hour up Doctor? Where do I take care of my insurance co-pay?
