Is there something in there I'm not seeing? $120 for a used pee wee and a partial flight kit? C'mon! Seriously?
Oh wait there is that nose cone for a .40 sized motor maybe that's it!

Re: This is nuts
By the looks of that engine it is a 1957 Thimble Drone Pee Wee without the box... I do not know the price of these or what they generally go for...A market is only a good as what the market will bare...Good Market by the looks of things!!

Re: This is nuts
holy crap!
Please tell me that no one on here is the current highest bidder of that engine! But if you are the seller, CONGRATULATIONS!
I would say that engine is from the mid-late 1970s, it has a thicker (not thin or not stepped) cylinder and it also has a straight, non tapered case with a red zero drag plate and red tank. You can also see a box, perhaps the original box, they started to use that box in the mid 1970s.

I wonder if he will get paid. Bidding wars can get out of hand.

Good thing for me that I wasn't chatting with Indra when this popped up ! He once summoned his Svengali-Like Powers to command my purchase of an Ebay engine! Can't even remember the specific one...but it WAS a good deal...so he at least uses his super-natural powers for better...

"Out of hand" is being kind. I would have said plain stupid!
I wonder if the seller has a few friends helping to drive up the bid?
We have $100 .010's we don't need to pay that for Pee Wee's

Re: This is nuts
Guys, it's total B.S., look at the bidders, it the same three guys, more then likely they know each other.
If it's too good to true, it probably isn't.
FYI, its a later (thick) cylinder engine, not a early one.

Re: This is nuts
Aha but there is an implication that the fuel might (or might not) be genuine vintage stuff.
BTW how do we see who the bidders are?

Amazing how many have alot more money than brains. Something is not quite right with this deal. If this is legit someone is going to be very about this sale.

Re: This is nuts
Looking at the bid history/feedback of the two most aggressive bidders, I'd say the seller has about .000000% chance of being paid. Not a seller myself, but I don't believe there is much a seller can do after the auction when they get jerked around like that.
If I was the seller I'd cancel/lockout those two jokers before the auction ends and just deal with the real playahs.

Re: This is nuts
Those of us who have been in the Cox hobby for any length of time realize that "sniping" is a common occurane in any auction foremat. You either win or you lose.
What's not to understand? How would you run an auction differently?
(BTW, I've yet to bid on or buy an engine at auction. Mine have either been purchased new by me, from private party sales or given me by people getting out of the hobby most of them from the later)

nuts
Here is an idea that has worked for me. Set a value you want to pay and bid. Come back to it later after auction ends. If you win fine, if not try again later. I won many this way and shocked a few times as I had bid pretty low on a few.

Re: This is nuts
I still prefer my idea of "networking" my interest in model aviation and Cox engines specifically. I have a definite "Type B" personality which is an asset.
I'll leave auction bidding to the "Type A's" who wish to remain withdrawn, secretive and hestitant to engage in social interactions.

Re: This is nuts
I snipe every time I bid at eBay. I can't think of a better way to do it. I can't see posting a bid only to cause another bidder to top it. I show up with 10 seconds left and if it's still below my limit, I post my limit. I win more than I lose, but I don't use eBay all that frequently.
I'm a mix of Type A, part Type B
Type A individuals are outgoing, ambitious, very organized, may be sensitive, care for other people, are truthful, impatient, always try to help others, take on more than they can handle, want other people to get to the point, proactive, and obsessed with time management. But the Type B in me is not obsessed with time until I've wasted all but the last minute, and not quite rigidly organized, and tries to be laid back.
