Re: What's the Best Reed for Cox Reed Valve Engines.
Was your left handed prop a Cox? The only known left handed prop that I'm aware of that Cox made was a 6x2. In my opinion is nothing more than a air beater. It was designed for beginners and it doesn't have enough pitch to make the model fly fast enough. However, you stating the rpm's were down using one leads me to believe you were using a Tornado yellow pusher prop.
I also commend your choice of plane. I too, use a ARF Baby Clown. I was just able to sneak a Perfect tank between the leading edge and the back of the nylon motor mount. I did replace the fuse. The stock fuse was typical punk wood that Brodak uses. Light as a can be with no strength. The screws were pulling through the fuse and plastic motor mount once oil migrated under the covering destroyed it.
I did away with the two gear landing gear and went with a single. Overall though the Brodak Baby Clown uses a fairly large Hershey bar wing. I built a PDQ Baby Clown and it looks nothing like the Brodak offering. The Brodak Baby Clown will do the pattern with clarity.
