Cox Engine of The Month
Skyraider throttle control

Skyraider throttle control
I have recently managed to acquire a Douglas Skyraider in excellent condition - don't think that the engine has been run at all.
The bellcrank assembly seemed to be locked, so I unscrewed the top section from the bottom section & found the throttle control wire link (between engine & b/c) loose & jamming the working of the b/c.
I've scoured the net & Documents & Manuals to see if there is anything showing how this link should be correctly fitted & come up with nothing - anyone out there got some detail that they can publish/share, or a photograph to show how the link wire should sit - plenty telling me that they are difficult to operate, but nothing that helps to ensure that the link set up is correct (or otherwise)

Re: Skyraider throttle control
Review this thread. Does yours have the half-moon throttle control B/C or in the first picture here the standard B/C?

Bellcrank
Thanks for coming back Bob, it’s got the half moon type bellcrank and I’m just wondering how the link wire attaches from the engine ‘circlip’ across to the b/c - if that makes sense

Re: Skyraider throttle control
I dug it out. Bottom of the stack and it hasn't been out of the box since some young lady twisted the wire tie tight in Santa Anna and as I mentioned in the text - I ain't taking it apart.
I thought I could get away with taking pictures of the instructions, but they didn't come out. I should have scanned them and the plans do not show the connections clearly anyway.
Is there a hole in the top of the half moon? Got a picture of it? If not, my best guess that the throttle link connects (ganged) with the elevator link so when you give it up it increases throttle RPM.
Not much help, but it's all I have. Usually I dig into these things like a monkey on a cupcake, but this one I left alone.
Edit add.........
Checked back - Ah I did scan them

Skyraider Throttle Control
That's absolutely perfect Bob - I can see the connector rod/throttle pushrod (9) quite clearly in the Replacement Parts outline sketch & it shows quite clearly the alignment - will pull apart & set up - whether I will get around to putting it in the air remains to be seen
Many thanks Sir - without your help I would not be able to get it sorted - diolch yn fawr - thank you very much
