What my "time out" taught me
If but for 24 hours it taught me that I missed the banter that so often flows here.
Why is it that some see banter as critism?
BTW, someone remarked that for a former USAR weapons instructor I have tender feelings. In my defense I would offer at the time I wore sergeant stripes, carried swagger stick with .50 cal case on the tip and wore steel helmet when on the range tower issuing commands to recruits.

Re: What my "time out" taught me
That will never end Dave.
Banter = criticism = negative opinion = postitive opinion,,and then repeat or reverse repeat.
It's hard to hear all that when you cant really hear the tone of someones voice on a forum board. just something to think about.
The Druids are alive and well,,so I have heard by reading it on a board,,,lol!.

What's wrong with banter if it includes these?

PV:
Try BANTER as a noun which is how I used it:
: to speak to or address in a witty and teasing manner

A point well-taken.
I wouldn't want CECF to become a "monastary" where discenting opinion was forbidden and the discenter pilloried. Those new to the forum should browse the posts before jumping with their own. So doing would allow the "newb" some sense of the tenor of our remarks. The frequent use of "smilies" should be observed and taken to heart.
In two different recent cases this wasn't done and conflict within the forum arose. Members took both sides and the rancor, at times, became intense. Realistically this is something the moderators should carefully "moderate" or keep under reasonable control according to the forum guidelines. (They are really quite clear IMO)
