A Breezy Day on Breezy Hill
My Wind Forecaster Lied to Me!
Thought I was gonna get a break from the breezes on Sunday, so chucked some planes into the van and headed to Breezy Hill for some flying.
Turned out calm air was not to be in the cards, but I got in a few flights in the wild, choppyness anyway. The only damage happened when I turned my back on Big Red just long enough for it to get blown off its stand and have it's windshield busted up.
Also tried out my new GoPro Max 360 camaera...but I got a lot to learn about using it.
But, "Stick Time is Stick Time"

Thanks Eric!
It was a beautiful day...maybe for kites, or slope soaring! I intended to get there and get going before the winds came in force, but that was not to be.
The 150 was a "Mind Control Purchase" because I kept seeing ads for it every time I cranked up You Tube to view a Draco tutorial. It uses the same batteries as Draco, and I still had some cash left over from my tax return, so just decided to get it.
The whole deal has been a bit stressful for my old brain to handle because of the many (maybe TOO many) features of the radio, and the way they're employed...along with all this Lipo battery stuff which can seem like Satan-in-a-Can compared to my friendly old Nicads and Nimh batteries. But, I'm learning.
Got a new windshield on order for Big Red, and should be able to piece its frame back together fairly easy. Just feel particularly stupid for turning away from a plane while it was sitting on a stand in a gale.
The weatherman is calling for much lower winds tomorrow (heard THAT before!), so I may drag them back to Breezy Hill for some flying before our club meeting. I have yet to experiment with flap settings and thrust reverse to make short field landings.
The learning curve, while somewhat lumpy, continues.

Dang the thing has thrust reverse , it does sound like a leaning curve to me . I have got to get on with leaning my Spectrum DX6i as usual its busy here in the spring with the garden to get going since the weather has broken some what mowing and all , wind has been pretty steady son mowed the fly field yesterday so thats a start .
