More Fun at Breezy Hill !
"The Great Nobler Chase"
Leo gave me permission to post these photos from our "After the Party Fun-Fly" a few weeks ago.
After starting his Nobler, Leo was happily walking out to pick up his flying handle, when the Nobler made a break for Freedom. His launching stooge (a release mechanism---NOT Billy) failed, and turned the big control liner loose to rampage across the Crop Circle on it's own.
Unfortunately (for me), I was using a still camera, so didn't catch the action that I might have with the video cam. Still, with the shutter release held down, and the camera clicking away (what are friends for, after all?), I managed to capture a few frames as "The Nobler Wranglers" attempted to bring the stampeding Cable Dog to a stop.
The plane finally stopped itself, running into the taller grass outside the Crop Circle, and killing it's wonderfully tuned engine.
No damage, not even a kink in the cables, so all was well. Billy suggested the "Theme from Benny Hill" as good background music, so I included a link for you punch before working the slideshow back and forth, if you choose to do so...
Just more fun on Breezy Hill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: More Fun at Breezy Hill !
We have a certain weed that seems to grow about 10" high rather quickly. Even though the grass is cut low, within 3-4 days these very tough weeds pop up sporadically. They're just high enough and strong enough to scramble everything up. The lines get caught on them and the seed head don't exactly pop off of the stem easily so the lines hook onto them causing the plane to turn into the circle. I've had it happen many times that the plane hooked and flew straight at me. The last thing I need is OS imprinted on my forehead. Nowadays, we have a small push mower that we clear the takeoff area. It's a scary thing, I'm glad the plane is ok and everyone's safety.

I bet that is buckhorn. It’s a perineal. Has a rosette close to the ground. Cut the seed stem off and within a few days new ones emerge.

Hit it with 2,4 D ester in the fall and again in the spring. Can buy this herbicide from tractor supply. 2,4 D is a plant growth regulator. Basically it puts the plant in overdrive and starves it to death. It’s pretty safe and been around since the 40s. We spray our oats and wheat with it prior to flag leaf for broadleaf control. You could spot spray the circle and put signage up to keep off for 24 hours. It breaks down in sunlight fairly quickly and is safe on the grass which is what you want to keep.
