Cox Engine of The Month
Rare plane
Rare plane
This very rare plane was given to me today to get it working. I'm going to be faced with a lot of challenges here but it will fly. This is a AJ1 Savage kitted by Berkley. The two Silver Bees in the nacelles will get the whole treatment but that really is the easy part of this fix. The controls are in serious need of a shotgun blast. This is a hollow log model. I hate to cut into it, I don't feel there's any other way to avoid it. The stab has dihedral in it therefore the pushrod is a wishbone. It's not done correctly leading to jamming and stiffness. Hopefully within the next month I have this resolved with a video. This is a neat plane. Ken

Re: Rare plane
I'm excited about this one Ken, right down my alley. Love the twins and I have actually seen the full sized version fly.
Eager to see the results of your rebuild and a little air time.
Enjoyed your helicopter video. I have flown the Cox Skycopter and have models of the Comanche and Attack Cobra. Fun little things but they can be finger eaters.

Does stink you have to cut it, but I am sure it can be done inconspicuously. Have fun with it.

Re: Rare plane
I haven't had a real chance to sit down and look at it. I'm hoping I don't have to but I see a few things that are or could be problematic. I build my planes to a certain level and I find it very difficult not too fix things that I see. This is not going to be a stunter, it's just a cool roundy round plane. I admire that. I'm not looking to rebuild it, just make it flyable. I have no idea how the rocket engine is going to work in the tail, I'm certain it will be cool.
