CEF C/L Handle, Can it become a reality????
Forum people, I think you all know members that could 3D print a wicked handle with the Cox Engine Forum logo. I'd buy a few!!!! , Mark

Re: CEF C/L Handle, Can it become a reality????
I would recommend something with a line reel/handle combination. There were a few Australian variants. One was aluminum, as the plastic ones would sometimes break. Here is a pic. of something similar. https://fullcircleflyers.blogspot.com/2011/10/cl-handlereel.html I found one like that which detaches the front half semicircle. Whoever makes them could sell maybe a few more than just a regular handle. Each set of a particular line size and length would want a reel/handle. I think they would be quite handy. Mine looks very well designed, but looks a bit weak for a .40 size plane.

Yes I totally agree with your concept! This handle needs to be unique, I would add a bracket to hold a smart phone/camera doodad. Updated to todays (high tech) standards. Mark

And a transmitter for throttle, retracts, bombs, missiles.... I think a handle/reel would be good enough if it was strong. Golberg 1/2A handles you could wrap the dacron lines on it but that was pretty crude and would not work with steel lines. I suppose to be totally updated, the newer Spectra Quattro (or whatever) lines could be wrapped again.

Re: CEF C/L Handle, Can it become a reality????
Are you guys having fun or is this for real?
Generally when using steel lines you have a spool for reeling the lines and storage. Reel style handles are neat I suppose, but are pretty clunky and are downright awful for any kind of stunt flying. Going in circles they are probably ok.
The easy and cheapest way to produce a handle would be to go with a C style handle. Larry Renger makes a really nice 1/2A handle and one patterned after it in 3D print would be something I would be interested in.

You guys get all the research and development sorted out and prepare a presentation for me, then I’ll consult our professional CL members to see what they think.

Reminds me of Beverly Hills Cop 3 with The Annihilator 2000 scene.

Re: CEF C/L Handle, Can it become a reality????
We could do it if someone with the design software and 3D printer wants to take on the task.
I don't fly so I know nothing about what makes a good handle.

Re: CEF C/L Handle, Can it become a reality????
Here's an old thread on the matter.

Aspeed made mention of this type of handle.
This is all I ever flew with, as did 90% of Aussie fun/sport flyers. Worked well for me. One set of lines and you could reel them out to whatever length you wanted, depending on the aircraft and the space available.

Re: CEF C/L Handle, Can it become a reality????
I like this one, never seen another. Shimitzu Mokei name makes me think Japan. Very well engineered. Two pieces snap together and the detachable piece has the knobs. There are two slots so the lines are separate and the pins screw in. There is even a radius molded in so they don't kink. 5 1/2" OD with a 5" spacing and no adjustment. It's 3/4" thick. Seems like nylon. I have a couple other reels like the Ureely and the Cox one for dacron lines but this one is the Cadillac (Lexus)

Mark, using Cox crankcases and cylinders at top and bottom is interesting. Can you tell some about the sphere at the middle?

Really like the idea Mark. And with that, would be awesome if one could run the lines on one crankcase, through the cylinders, and outside the other crankcase. Looks just like you designed!

Re: CEF C/L Handle, Can it become a reality????
Thanks for go'in easy on me! My thoughts on this handle is that it be molded in plastic. The center hub or sphere is to house the lead line adjustment lever/knob and provide more feel in the grip. The other side as you can see is for the CEF logo. Mark
