Darryl Wilson Memorial Fun-Fly at Breezy Hill
Thought I'd post this note and photos from the Breezy Hill Flyers' Facebook Page, on the Fun-Fly we dedicated to our fellow Flyer, Darryl Wilson.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It took a couple of weeks, but here are some notes and photos from our Fun-Fly, dedicated to our great friend and Breezy Hill Flyer, Darryl Wilson.
We lost Darryl last January and decided to have a day set aside for the Flyers and friends to remember and tell stories about of their times spent with this all-around good guy.
We were originally aiming for Saturday, May 4th, which arrived with wind, low clouds, and rain blowing across Breezy Hill. Still, Thomas Boulnois drove up from Sikeston, putting in several flights out through the gloom with his faithful Mustang. I had Darryl's Butterfly motorglider, but had already decided to hold off to the next day, and used the opportunity to test fly the Space Walker that had been parked since I bought it a few years ago.
I also spent some time trying to chase Thomas' Mustang with my Mavic Drone, but I'm still pretty clumsy with the thing, and only got some video captures of his plane before packing up and heading home.
Sunday turned out to be a fantastic day, with blue skys and fairly calm winds. Six Breezy Hill Flyers showed up through the day. Billy had Darryl's Lazy Bee and Electric Stick, while Steven put up his Piper Cub.
I had Darryl's Butterfly on deck, and got in several flights with it and the Space Walker in the great weather. Brian Dudenbostel took the Butterfly's transmitter, giving me a chance to video the model as he made some low passes.
All told, we had a great time remembering our friend, and may schedule it again next year.

The Space Walker made a few laps also...
