Hows about THAT, guys and gals????
I believe this to be a diesel built from drawings published by the Aeromodeller magazine in the UK sometime in the 1950s. As far as I can discover, it was intended as a schools project to teach the basics of diesel ignition, and was never intended to actually power anything, although it would actually run!

I don't know if the Anderson Spitsy is a beautiful or ugly, defintily cool. Here's two less then cool, leaning toward ugly. The Cameron/Hasbro Car Engine and the Testors 'Pipe Bomb'

I certainly agree about the first one, but I quite like the "Pipebomb" for some reason, I'm annoyed that the one that I have can't be mounted for use, I must look out for the type shown in your pic here.

This Testors engine was sold as a 'Hobby engine' and are often seen on eBay.

Now that's interesting.
Water cooled head and exhaust. Looks like a gear reduction system for a boat. Wonder what the pullet is for - a flywheel?

Re: Ugliest Model Engines?
BTW, that Testors "pipebomb" engine as shown was called the Testors 8000 (.8cc) and was a good runner. Just as Testors got a good one, the company folded. The version without mounting provisions was used for RTF plastics. I have the metal version from an RTF and several of the 8000's. The crankcase on the 8000 was made of a black plastic, and the cylinder is mounted sideways for CL use.
Also, I like my Spitzy...
