These websites are nearly the same.

From what I gather, Bernie speaks for CoxInt, and Matt speaks for EX.

Are these two parts of the same company? Are they just two separate people cooperating to help the Cox hobbyist?

Can somebody explain it to me?

No, we are two separate companies. I like to refer to both of us as 'friendly competitors'. We do stock many of the same items, and sometimes engage in joint-manufacturing of some items where it is beneficial.

Hope that helps!

It is very rare to see that kind of... comrodery? i guess? in sales these days. The only other example I can think of is the table top war game stores in my city

The market model could probably be best described as an oligopoly -- an industry dominated by a small number of large firms. Certainly, neithter Matt nor Bernie would benefit from cut-throat price competition since the internet gives their primary buying market almost instant access to their pricing structures. Being suppliers to a small niche market, combined buying power would provide some leverage when negotiating with a potential parts manufacturer; as Matt said, when it is beneficial to both parties.

COX products and parts are fast becoming a scarce resource. While there are likely hundreds of thousands of COX engines and parts languishing in drawers and boxes across the country, matching those products with buyers is the real problem. Bernie and Matt have met the goal of meeting the demands of a select group of customers. I suspect that neither will have a significant impact on the national debt, but they will put goodies on their table and we can continue to indulge in our hobby.
