This one is good for 6 feet away (so they say). CHA-CHING! tho'

I have the Great Planes Globee intellitach, works pretty good. good for 32000 rpms, 2-3-4 blade prop, memory features, tilt screen.

Yes I have that but I believe it meters the speed and not RPM it uses the doppler effect.

Sounds too good to be true. If it works, I'll use my gift card and buy it.

I tested it once and it gave a reading but I do not know how accurate it was.
I also think it can only be used for electric planes as they make a different noise to large glow engines but maybe it will take readings for 1/2a too.

Well, I have a "real" tach. Maybe it's time for some Guinea Pig testing. Very Happy

Yo! Don't know if you can wait till the swap meet in Belleville, but I've got three I could bring along if you'd like to test them yourself !

I have a TNC tach but they are not available now. Tony sold his company and has since passed away. I understand that the company that bought him out updated the electronics and renamed it. Sorry, can't remember the new name.

George

Edit: These folks make it now. Don't know which shops sell it, but it is an excellent tach:

$100, and it doesn't even have a four-blade setting. The $20 Tach came with that...
