Ronnie's engines
I was dealing with Ronnie to purchase his lot of engines, he was a easy, honest guy to deal with. His packing and shipping were great, got here in two days.
I haven't had time yet to open the boxes but will post them here, one by one with whatever info I can find in my research on this fine group of engines.
Four boxes full of engines, can't wait to dig in.
P.S. My wife killed me.

I bet she did. Better lay low for a while.
I am definitely watching the unveiling! Not going to even ask what you paid

Re: Ronnie's engines
A local radio show I've been listening to for years, Garage Logic, has a thing called "The 48 hour rule". Basically what you need to do is to quietly add those engines to your collection (displayed in plain sight) and if said new engines go unnoticed for 48 hours, and she eventually asks about them, you can claim "oh! those have been there".
I can't wait to see what you all got.
GL Lexicon wrote:This rule was established on March 5, 2002 and is as follows: As a reward for a fellow sneaking new and inexpensive cylinders into the Crisis Center (aka: the garage) and also escaping any female wrath that might accrue from said purchase, the fellow may make up any story he wishes after 48 hours regarding the acquisition. In other words, she gets 48 hours to notice the purchase and complain. If she misses her window, you are home free.
“This old thing,” you might say, when, after a week, she finally does notice, “that thing has been here since July.”
I can't wait to see what you all got.

Re: Ronnie's engines
I don’t think that’s going to work with those amount of engines
Case in point:
I picked up a beat up Bultaco Sherpa T motorcycle about 3 months back. Paid $250 for it, snuck it into my workshop where it went undetected for over a month before I got caught. Got in trouble, begged for forgiveness, you know the usual.... A month later I drop over $1000 in parts for it with no issue from my wife. A month later she comes into my shop while I am working and sees the bike again, also all the new parts and asks if I am building this one too.
You guessed it, I got in trouble all over again. I asked what she thought I was spending all that money on???
It’s easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.

Another thing from that radio show is the "Cylinder Index" (C.I.).
You don't want your C.I. to be less than your age.
So LOL, what's your C.I.?

I am guessing the seller is known here as ”R Watson”, remember the ”new guy” who had received a bunch of antique spark ignition engines and such.
Can’t wait to see what treasures are in all of those boxes

Thanks for the clarification Kari...4 boxes packed with Valentine engines sounded a bit weird, anyway...

I have a modern 4-stroke honda/montesa on my bucket list, but I have no idea about how to get that past the boss...

I like V8s and counting my little engines CI is way over my age. Funny one day I was standing in my yard and counted all the tires I had to maintain, it was like 24 or so. I thought I really got too much crap.

Re: Ronnie's engines
So, would this be an early Black Friday sale, or an early Christmas gift to yourself. You may be able to use either one of these in your defence and opening statement.... It would have sucked, but you could also have kept them hidden, wrapped them up and secretly placed them under the tree the day before and played dumb.... But that would kill me waiting for an unboxing like that.

Says,
scrapwire52 wrote:This is what you find after your shop burns, These were found in the ashes on the floor about a month later.
May be he was charging lipo's in his shop without keeping an eye on it, and the batteries caught fire that burned the shop down?
Even what is more strange, people are actually bidding and the cost (4 hours left and the .020's and .010's are over $50 with the shipping included) is going up far more than I would think what's left is worth.
Now that is what I call a real "Fire Sale".
