So, the American Pickers are finally staring to pay attention to Gas powered toys and airplanes? That’ll help drive up the prices!!!!

Yes, surprised me. They usually walk right by model airplanes which aggravates me.
They bought it and a couple of outboard engine model boats. They were picking someone in my home state of NH. They actually bought a Messerschmidt car for $35K. One of those canoe like tandem things just like this one. Rather neat.

American Pickers
Hello,
I remember watching an episode of American Pickers and I saw an Aurora P-47 sitting on a table at the location that they were digging through at the time. They both walked right by it and paid it no attention. I was sitting there thinking that I would have made a dash for that plane if I were picking the location!

Watch carefully, and I have noticed many rc and control line planes in the background. I have even caught myself yelling at the tv a few times to look at the planes.....

Then I'm not alone......
I watch AP frequently but have never seen them buy a model airplane. Instruments, flight suits, helmets, etc. but never a plane be it balsa, plastic, or what-ever. Maybe awkward to display in one of their stores.
Buying model airplanes on ebay presents a shipping problem, model cars not so much. I have bought a couple on ebay, this one nicely packed and sporting a Spitzy.
But, it didn't totally escape damage.

Are you sure that's a Spitzy? Looks more like a Cub to me.

100% OK Cub! I wonder what the idea is behind the crossed leadouts?

Having the rear leadout be the 'up' can cause the plane to yaw right adding to the line tension, not much but it might help.

It looks like some guy sheeted over an old Comet P-51 in a prison workshop. Are you going to do a little exploratory surgery on it before flight.

I will probably never fly it. Don't know if that Spitzy err OK Cub would even fire up. I have no idea either as to the placement of the fuel tank or if it leaks or the condition of the tubing. Yes, probably some surgery would be required.
Bucket list for fly 'em crash 'em day which was supposed to happen last May but MG restoration got in the way.

Get it to run one way or another and mount a REAL old timey M-80 with a fuse extension on her and let her rip around the circle 'til she blows.

......... that's not right.
That sad-looking little model airplane caught my eye when Bob posted the 1st photo of it. I like it.. and I also liked the "Thank You Robert" note that was attached to it by the seller..
and I especially like the fact that Bob appreciated it enough to bid-on/buy it.

Yeah, I lay all my stuff out here, the good, bad, and ugly. I'm an open book on this forum.
We never put cherry bombs in ours. Free flight only, we would douse the tail with lighter fluid and throw them off to a fiery end.
That little P-51 caught my eye roddie. And the shipping was reasonable. It is delicate and I'm careful when I handle it. Not the first complete balsa model that I have bought on ebay and had shipped. One really got mangled that I posted about here a couple of years ago. Didn't know what it was but somebody knew. I rebuilt it.

Lord have mercy fellas. You'd think I had suggested that we ought to bury cats up to their necks and run over them with lawnmowers.

No Sweat Victor! I guess that I'm particularly sensitive to such comments.. because just today, I'm considering repairing a little old broken model-airplane that no-one in their "right-mind" would attempt to repair.
Re: Crazy, crazy, crazy, etc. etc. etc.
By all means go for it. Initial indications were that your were just going crash fly it anyway if you could get it running. Break out the acetone and get to work dissolving the glue for a forensic inspection before it gets to cold to do it outside.

Thanks Ron, You told me what it was before but I couldn't remember the name. Got to admit to a bit of fishing here.
"Scout" led me to it's picture album. It was slightly disassembled when I got it. Bought it mainly for the little IMI marked Enya .06 in the nose.
One of my more fun projects.

That Scout is an excellent flyer. You should give it a whirl or if you aren’t up to it have your son give it a go.
I would be interested to see how that little Enya performs.
