first wen mac hot shots
I have read that the first hot shot models were built using mk#3 crankcases by machining the deck surface down to accommodate the new cylinder. Does anyone have one, or a picture of one. I keep a look out on ebay but havent seen one there. I have even thought of faking one. I have a crankcase I could use.

Don't know if this link will work, but it can be found on the "old" yahoo group page.

Marleysky, I have the same old models that you do. I am looking for the first model that used the modern cylinder. I read that you can see the remnants of the wen mac name milled half away.

looks like you are looking for a example of "engine 19" from that reference guide.
Or, you can make your own?

Yes sir, thats the one I am interested in. In all the years I have been using and tinkering with wen macs, I have never seen one. If I can come up with a crankcase I may make one. I have a friend who can do the triming and threading, if I can get him to do it.

Mark, I may have misunderstood. Are you saying the mark X pictured is the missing link engine? I thought they were made from surplus mk III cases.

Wenmac-AMF MkXI
Very confusing.. Here's another engine given to me by Bob, that I missed.. (as received; less the needle and prop..)
It doesn't have that "shaved-case" though.. It appears to be a cross between the #19 and #20 engines.. but could also have parts that were swapped. Note the glow-head with "slots" as opposed to flats.. and AMF appearing "below" WENMAC on the L/H side of the case.

oops, sorry, thought that photo was of the 'missing link' engine, it was late and never bothered to look close, it's actually a later version without the oxide coating on cylinder.
