Re: gone, picked up locally
How did I miss this?
Vornado fans are among my favorite fans. Besides this one I posted about awhile ago, I've been working on these other two Vornados that I picked up a few weeks ago. I've been meaning to post about them awhile ago.
This is what they looked like when I brought them home.
I have since replaced the cords, rebuilt the motors and cleaned them up. The big one is missing it's speed choke so it only has "one" speed. I have installed a on/off switch in the open hole in the front. The little one appeared to have been dropped (probably fell off a wall), the outer "cowl" has a ripple on the front and is even slightly out of round. It took some careful bending of the motor brackets to get the motor centered straight. I've been using that little green one quite frequently, it is starting to slow down when tipped back/up so I think I'm going to have to open the motor again and try a different grease on the rotor spacer disc bearings. I also just broke its switch today...dammit. I'll post about these later on with better pics.
Great fans, designed by a guy who was working on airplanes, engines and cowl designs.
Can't believe I missed this LOL... the shipping would've been a pain though.

Re: gone, picked up locally
I saw it. Not my thing though. I'll shoot you a message next time. Phil should have sent you a PM
I saw a beaut of a vintage tiller the other day. Lawn boy, bright green and in cherry condition. I asked the owner if he wanted to sell. He said no way. Yeah he knew what he had.
He did say I can use it any time I want. I'll be taking him up on that offer!

See! I knew I was right in offering it here first!
I wanted to like it and rebuild it and everything, but I have too much on my plate already.
Sorry you missed it. It really was heavy, but you knew this already.
Phil

Oh that's alright, I know the shipping would probably outweigh the value of the fan.
I'm sure I saw the post, being the 4th of July and family unexpectedly showing up and all that kind of stuff, it probably didn't register. Either that or I thought I was loosing it as within that past week I picked up those two above and had Vornados on the mind.
You really should've kept it, easy to replace the cord and get it going again. You could've made a guard for the front or hung it up high in the garage.
Thanks for offering it here though.
