THANKS, Kim. I've got it on my calender. One ready for flight. Two still in kit form. I'll have something to fly for sure.

Bandit, I didn't know you were a Rotax Guru. Now I know who to email when I have questions on my 503.
*I*, on the other hand, will be free as a bird that weekend. In the past I've just run across the street to get a couple of flights in on a Beginner or Baby Ringmaster, but this year I'm going to go to Walker memorial Field and fly a Brodak Electric Ringmaster with the old(er) guys.

Re: 2016 International Ringmaster Fly-a-Thon! October 1st & 2nd, 2016
I am a CL flier of one in Lampasas Texas and flew the RM fly a thon first time last year with my son. We only had a RM 1/2a BiPlane and we had a blast
I Have since got a Mike Griffen ARF RM fox 35 that flies well
I also have a Core House RST with RM flavor and LA 25 that flies better
I am just now finishing a Pat Johnston RM S-1 with BBTU OS FP 20 power
and I have a Pat Johnston 526 Ring Master but will not be done for this year's Fly A Thon
Seriously considering a trip to Houston for the RM round up
WHY?
at 4 +/- years old I helped my Daddy build a McCoy 35 ignition powered Sterling Ring Master and this loved and hated plane is my original nostalgic beginning into this very fulfilling hobby I am sharing with my children and grand children (I hope)

Re: 2016 International Ringmaster Fly-a-Thon! October 1st & 2nd, 2016
I hope to have a micro Ringmaster at the time the Flyathon comes around. I think I'm on Roger Harris' list for a kit. If I do have the model but still need an engine in October, maybe I can borrow one from Bandit. Or even Microflitedude Matt, I wonder how he's doing.
I've never flown on Ring Day and really want to. Last year my buddies flew up at Watt's field, but I had other obligations... like anything is more important Lol. Oh yeah, now I remember, the flood aftermath. Damn, I'd forgotten

A Quad City Challenger II Long Wing. I have a couple of months off starting in August, so I should finally be able to spend time at the hangar getting it finished.

Cool the challenger is a nice plane flies well too, how close are ya at having it done? Put the door kit on it too if you haven't already helps it fly better. (Bandit)batjac wrote:TDbandit wrote:

And, It's Almost upon Us!
Looks like I'll be traveling to Chester, Illinois, this Saturday to join with some members of the Breezy Hill Flyers in launching our Ringmasters for the Fly-a-Thon.
If I understand Billy (a member who is also a musician and wood worker---notice a familiar theme there) correctly, there are several control line flyers in the club who are gonna be out. Sounds like most are not computer fans, so I'm packing a score sheet to keep track of how many flights they log, and send it in on Monday. Look to make a day of it.
I also asked what may have been a stupid question on the Ringmaster Facebook page as to whether or not we can log flights on both days. The answer of course was yes, so, unless I'm totally spent I may run over to my Uncle Wayne's place the next day, or put some flights in close to home.
Checking my lines Kim

I was planning to head south to Houston Scobee field for the Ring Master Round Up this weekend, until my son called and asked if we were logging flights again this year
I changed plans and tomorrow (WX looks good all day) the Roger Harris Baby RM Bi-plane and my two S-1ish RMs will attempt to survive our efforts of getting dizzy and having fun, just Father and Son...I am real jazzed

Since we're on the eve of the Ringmaster Fly-a-Thon, and if the members agree, how about we get the moderators to give us a Thread Sticky it?
This thread is not REAL long, so it would do, but a separate start might make it easier to sort the flights.
Fire'm Up !!!!!

Rod! Cut one out of sheet stock and fly it naked !!! (The plane...without paint...I mean)
Don't know if it's already the 1st there, but an afternoon worth of chopping and glueing, and you could be in the game !!!

Re: 2016 International Ringmaster Fly-a-Thon! October 1st & 2nd, 2016
1st is nearly done here. Didn't get much done today due to the AFL Football Grand Final. Not much of a fan but seeing one of the league's underdogs was playing (haven't been in a final for over 50 years) I decided to waste a couple of hours watching, and the old Doggies (Bulldogs) managed to pull it off against Sydney, one of the top teams. Rained on and off all day so didn't venture out much.Kim wrote:Rod! Cut one out of sheet stock and fly it naked !!! (The plane...without paint...I mean)

I've got one of Roger's Bipes on the building board but haven't progressed very far. I did think about your "naked" idea, with just a thick doping. Trouble is I was expecting it to be another week away. If I'm gonna bother building I'd rather do it properly. Maybe I should have picked up some corflute and a hot glue gun and knocked up a rough one for the day. Well, next time
