Good to see that you're able to still get out and enjoy events such as this. I'm living in the most locked-down state in the world
Covid restriction have cancelled every event you can imagine. They promised to open up again once Vax rate reached 70%, then they said 80%, now they're talking 90% before they will allow any "social" gatherings.
And they wonder why everyone's getting anti-social!
I know I've been talking about doing the Fly-a-thon for years. Same old story. Got to build the plane first

I have pleasant memories of a Ringmaster I built around ‘80…. A friend gave me a Johnson.35 … My first “big” engine….I built the RM to put it in…Up until then I had only flown .049 slab wing designs…. It felt like getting out of a VW and into a Cadillac …

Ready as I’ll ever be. This year it’s the Ringmaster Jr. My full size one has had the wings flown off of it and weighs like 10lbs. It’s time to retire it, permanently. It was a good ride.
This one I built years ago, in a hotel I believe. I flew it at first with a Fox .10 on the nose. It was garbage. My Son flew it into a tree so I repaired it and it has sat ever since. I bolted a crusty steel fin Fox .15 on it this evening and ran a tank through it. Good enough for tomorrow.

Ron, I don't know if you ever used a steelfin prior. They're anemic but they run well. They generally don't handle line lengths typical of .15 size planes. These like shorter lines but they can work well. Just a week ago, I smoked mine. I had it a long time and the compression was down but it would start. Hot starting was out until it cooled. I got in a few more runs and it just didn't want to go any longer. I received it used many years ago but it was not properly cared for. I did my best and I made it go many years more than it would have. So I took it off the other night.

Thanks for the advice Ken, no I had not flown a Fox .15 until today. Luckily my lines were 50’ from eyelet to eyelet so it did just fine. I used a 7x4 Top Flite prop. It ran way better than the .10 Hustler.
Between 3 Ringmaster pilots we managed 25 flights today. 9 of those were mine. I was using 10/22 fuel, but I bet it would have been fine on Sig Champion with more nitro.
One of the guys brought about 8 Ringmasters. All in all it was a good day and we made a little dent. Lots of fun.

Way to go guys ! I see there are no 1/2A models in there . Any plans for today ? Don' look like i will bee doing any flights this year , Having to much fun just getting around at the moment after a fall on to a piece of tree trying to get away from some wasps that came out the blower housing on the engine when i started it No stings though(would have been less panful)

There was one 1/2A Ringmaster. It just didn’t get flown. I suppose I could fly Rusty’s micro Ringmaster today, but…. The kitchen sink is leaking and I have to tack the floor pan down on the Mustang.

Re: Annual Worldwide Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon October 2nd & 3rd
Today I made it to the r/c field, no fly for the r/c crowd today. Perfect, because I brought a few Ringmasters with me. I brought the giant 850 sq K&B .61 powered monster and even my Ringmaster bipe which I built in 1984. I also flew a Baby Ring my dad built in and around that time frame. I had 13 flights in today and my son offered up equally as many. I flew the rescued Ringmaster Flash Jr which still was giving me fits even with the redone tank. It's nearing sledge hammer status.
My Ringmaster bipe with my favorite single ported Golden Bee. It sat for over 10 years and I pulled it out today and this thing started on the first flip. I truly love this engine and I've owned it for 40 years.
My Ringmaster JR Flash, I can't say enough good about this plane. Remarkable performance and this Fox .15X is a pocket on a t-shirt with this plane
My dad built this somewhere in the early 80's. The Golden Bee on here started and needled well, it didn't have much Ummph to it. A thin wall #6 cylinder is on it, I don't know how that came about but I wasn't overly impressed with it. I took a engine off another plane today and bolted it on for another additional 4 flights. Speed is what it needed.
While most present thought the giant was the best one to see, I opted for the 1/2A's. I truly enjoyed them today. Everything was starting easy and flying well. However, many dislike 1/2A and enjoy the big stuff. Here's my son flying the giant

I feel bad! All I did was look at my Baby Ringmaster and it's scratched out clone that Mark and I flew last year. Mark didn't make it over this year or I would have flown one of them. Maybe next year, but I turn 84 tomorrow, that one foot on a banana peel and the other in a deep hole thing.

"The Flash Back Flight!!!
........................................................................
The "Flash Back" flies at Breezy Hill.
A Ringmaster Flash...named "Flash Back .40" flys above our crop circle at Breezy Hill. This happened as part of the Annual Worldwide Ringmaster Fly-a-Thon on October 2nd and 3rd of 2021.
I am not the builder of this beautiful Ringmaster, but have it on loan from Billy Lang of the Breezy Hill Flyers who received it as a gift during a Fun-Fly at Buder Park, near St. Louis.
It's powered by a Fox .40 stunt engine, and seems to be trimmed very nicely.

The Fly-a-Thon Tally
From my Breezy Hill FP post:
........................................................................................
The Breezy Hill Flyers are listed in the current tally from the Worldwide Ringmaster Fly-a-Thon.
Our flights are logged on the second page, third from the top (although this may get shuffled as entries come in).
After talking with Billy about his flights AND remembering to include my two "night time" flights with Ole Blue (maybe I "Memory-Blocked" them?), the Flyers' total came to 31 for this great weekend.
At this moment, 326 participating pilots logged 3,903 flights, but this number will change as clubs and individual pilots check in, or utilize the rain/wind date of this coming weekend.
Thanks so much to our pilots and those around the world for participating in this global event, AND those who organize and keep the numbers!
I'll post on this again when we get the Final Grand Total.
