Re: Fuel blending and storage
Btw, Heet(two "E"s) in the YELLOW bottle is 100% pure methanol. It's what I used in making FAI style zero-nitro fuel to break-in my MP Jet .061 engines. Ran good, but used 35% nitro to prime it.

And looking in on CEF now and then, through the keyhole that is my phone...
Damn, my Time Warner app says my DVR is offline and not recording the few new episodes I really wanted to watch when I get home! Street Outlaws, Deadliest Catch, The Last Ship, and Hell on Wheels. Not to mention Airplane Repo. This vacation's getting a rocky start.

Re: Fuel blending and storage
I use a fuel stabilizer in my gasoline engines called "Startron" which is made by the Marine products company Starbrite. I have had really good luck using it in my power equipment's small engines. It's primarily an Ethanol treatment.
Although this is slightly off-topic.. I did a search for a photo and came up with a comparison of fuel stabilizers. The article from the photo-link is very interesting.. and features a test (year-long) on fuel stabilizers. What I found most interesting was the effects on metal. Check out the K100 product..

Roddie - Thanks for the useful info! Looks like I'm going to be looking for K100 , instead of my old stand by " heet ".

Re: Fuel blending and storage
Thanks for the good read. I am amazed. I wish however that SeaFoam was tested too, as that is what we exclusively use, but will be changing my additive for long term storage to K100!

The K100 website has a ratio-chart under the header "Fuel Type".. but here's a photo that also gives some info. Basically an 8oz. bottle of the "G" (gasoline) formula will treat 15 gallons of fuel.
revist
the thread morphed slightly and that is great with me
Like many of us I own a LOT of 2 stroke yard tools and struggled for years with springtime startup
Got convinced early on about StayBil
Changed to Sea Foam...I think better product
But a few years back started investing in better tools about the time we started learning about ethanol being bad for a lot of these infrequent use tools
I spent the (insane price to me) bucks on a quart ($9.99) canned premixed fuel... not for use but winter storage...
I can conservatively say three years later....screw the Staybil, SeaFoam or any other $30 per quart additive...the rather high price of the canned fuel is NOT good economy for daily weekly use---- but for the price is a excellent over winter storage fuel
FWIIW: all 2 strokes are 40 or 50 to 1 and 40 to 1 is OK just smokes a bit so that is the blend of Canned fuel I buy...usually found at stores for as low as $5.79 a quart wally world...or $7.89 Tractor supply or $8.99 Ace hardware Stihl brand
I feed each end of season now:
2 Stihl chainsaws
1 WeedEater edger
1 Husqvarna Leaf blower
1 Poulan hedge trimmer
1 Echo commercial string trimmer
1 Craftsman Pole saw
1 Harbor Freight 900w Generator
1 Husqvarna Pressure washer (4 stroke)...still gets a healthy dose of SeaFoam
2 John Deere Mower tractors (4 stroke)...still gets healthy doses of SeaFoam
from 2013 to now I do not have the springtime problems I used to have and my cost of replacement fuel primer bulbs has dramatically reduced.....
My bottom line... store with NON ethanol (already stabilized) fuel is a good idea
