MY thought is: what a pansy society....yes I know some of this is dangerous, I was at the Ramstein Germany air show when a soviet jet crashed killing a bunch of folks

I have many time been on maneuvers in a Army helicopter where we ( and the A10s) few close to the ground and very near troops or civilians

I even remember sitting in the stands as a child when USA Air Power demonstrations were put on for congressional folks; my perspective is the single plane or formation was very danged close ( I could feel the heat and smell the exhaust)

Or the fly over of a stadium or Daytona race way ...I know safe for most flight envelopes, but a miss hap COULD happen at a bad time and kill thousands...yet we love it and cheer and scream and shout and feel the Adrenalin rush

Yup, all three. Kinda sad, Kinda Stupid  and WTF ?  He needed to be thinned from the herd, too bad he took some innocent live with his stupidity. There are people who were great entertainers, showmen like Bob Hoover or  Evil Knievel. This guy seemed to be an accident waiting to happen, while trying to be stopped by the alphabet soup of governmental agencies meant to protect us. so sad

That was quite a read. His face is familiar, too. But I watch just about any show that features an airplane, so that's no surprise. Taking trusting unsuspecting passengers along is where it really goes bad. Like the Chinese girl who's own government ignored the warnings about Riggs. Really, skim the water with the mains! I would not have been dumb enough to climb into that flight. If I'd been on the pier though, I would have been thrilled. He may or may not have almost collided with it, you can not tell from the photo.

Yes Mark.. me too. Where we're a modeling community; it's not completely evident in the FB link/video, that these were full-scale aircraft. It was difficult to ascertain the scales of the aircraft.. although they would have had to have been at least 30% scale.. which was not out of the ordinary.. even in 2008. It was a reckless and irresponsible display, that would have frightened most people who were not prepared for it. Choosing to be a spectator at an airshow is one thing.. When I hear low-flying full-scale aircraft of any kind.. "out of the blue".. it concerns me. If it's a military aircraft.. even more so. We live in very uncertain times.. and unfortunately; our government wouldn't tell us in time.. if we were in any inherent danger. That's just the way it is.
