Stupid to TOO smart?
Google home or Echo/Alexa devices
I have a love hate relationship with my wife's Amazon Alexa Show and two additional Echo DOTs
Alexa is pretty brain dead for most questions
BUT from a dot in my shop, I can drop in on my wife in her shop, or the kitchen and use as a pretty good intercom
The free music is pretty good ...mostly in my shop sent to an amplified speaker system but just from the dot alone does not sound bad at all
When doing something in the shop I like the voice activated ability... song I not fond of.."Alexa---next song please" works
Took a long while to find out the free Amazon music is ONLY for primary account holder...Wife added me as a family user. To play the music or other PRIME features I just change USER to my wife
I am looking forward to WalMart and Google and others competing in this area...
Yes Virginia...I know all these apps and their parents are gathering my shopping history and targeting ME for their goods...so far they are pretty good at focusing in on my searches and hinting on sales or alternatives....I am in control of the spending
This past Thanks giving I was researching higher (to me) HP and Toshiba laptops... one I was seriously considering for wife's small business was in the $1375 range....I got noticed that a similar Dell Latitude with better stuff was on sale for $789....came in 4 days and is already wrapped for the tree

Alexa?
Hey Alexa!
Play ----In a Gadda Da Vidda for me
Alexa sez..."I found the long version here is the song...."
Jamming out for a few minuets in 75F doors open shop while I continue to procrastinate on the wing covering of the primary Force

Re: Stupid to TOO smart?
My wife bought one of those things. I decided to give it a try, I asked her to play “Working Man” by RUSH. She proceded to play a Muzac version of it. I haven’t asked her for anything since.

I drop that CD in every once and a while and turn the volume up enough to pixx my neighbors off. To really appreciate the music you need to burn some weed (not in 20 years) and listen in stereo or quad.

Re: Stupid to TOO smart?
I don't have any of those devices yet, one thing that bothers me about them is they are always listening and connected to the world.
But I don't know that my computer isn't spying on me now, where is my tin foil hat!!
I noticed Zuckerbergs computer has the cam and mic taped.
