Forum Flood Control ????????
I have had a few posts "go missing" at first I thought it was me and a touch of finger trouble/ forgetfulness.
Today it happened twice - luckily I had saved a copy elsewhere - but it looked as if I had either hit the back button or refreshed the screen. I saw this happen and I had a biscuit in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.
This afternoon something similar happened but this time I ended up posting the same topic "OTM 1.5cc Diesel" twice. I saw a message flash on my screen and then the two duplicate postings appeared in the Latest Topics column.
It almost happened again but this time I trapped the message
"Flood control is active on this forum."

Re: Forum Flood Control ????????
I lost a really good post about our measuring systems last night, couldn't duplicate the muse and replaced it with a patchwork replica. I thought I must've fat-thumbed it but I can't figure out how. I'm not getting along well with my new keyboard, called a chiclet with closer spaced keys. I don't know what purpose this new design is intended to suit.

Re: Forum Flood Control ????????
All my lost or weird anomalies are entirely ME and getting used to my new key board on this win 10 laptop
I really really need to stop and find a way to totally disable the built in touch pad as my typing style inadvertently I hit my base of thumb on the pad and I do not see the curser is no longer where needed or intended
but for any post longer than what is right here, I always try to Cntrl C the entire post so if it does go off into lost bit land I can start over and still cntrl V and all is well

Re: Forum Flood Control ????????
Flood control is if you post more than once in 10 seconds. If you have a slow connection and you hit "send" more than once while it's loading it may prompt that message although your first post should go through. It's supposed to help stop double posting.

Thanks for the explanation. I have a very fast connection - 150MB - maybe I left my finger on the mouse pad too long.

Btw, I am splitting hairs, but I think you mean 150 mbps(megabits) rather than mBps(megabytes). Speed tests usually measure megabits. Those bytes are 8 bits.
Mine usually runs 25 mbps down. so divided by 8 would be mBps

In London , I have a fibre connection. Unlimited bandwidth.
In the North of England - it is copper, miles from an exchange and you would be lucky to get 1.5mb. So I uses a 4g router - speeds are phenomenal but bandwidth costs a fortune and is chargeable per mb.

Re: Forum Flood Control ????????
Looks like the cable providers use the same lawyers and advertising. Notice how it says in two places in the ad "UP TO" 200mbps? You will only get that speed if no one else is using it , Saturn is aligned with Uranus , otherwise you'll be lucky to get 1.5. If you call to complain that you are not getting the advertised 200, they'll ask How much are you getting? You say only 1.5. 0h, 1.5 IS with-in the acceptable range, thank you for being a X-band customer!
The other thing I laugh at is the TV add for Charter cable where they offer cable service for ONLY $29.99 ** a month....for 12 months.....when you sign a 2 year contract....what do you pay for the remaining 12 months?? Ha ha ha. we got you!!
** when you bundle your Tv, internet and phone at $29.99each/ month

Re: Forum Flood Control ????????
I never did the bundle thing here as they want to add a home phone along with net and tv.
Here Time Warner charges me $36.00 a month for the net plus taxes for unlimited use.
Doing a speed check just now it pings my city to the next near by city an hour away.
Last Result:
Download Speed: 50863 kbps (6357.9 KB/sec transfer rate) 50.86 Mbps
Upload Speed: 5256 kbps (657 KB/sec transfer rate) 5.26 Mbps
Latency: 20 ms
Jitter: 3 ms

Over the years they keep jacking up the cost its about 50 bucks more than the bundle rate
right now. I put up with it thus far. I get HBO, Cinemax, Showtime for prime movie channels.
In total there are 1,953 channels offered I get about 80% of them but around 20% are in
other languages another 25% are useless to my viewing interest. Many are HD vs non HD
so just doubled up channels stretching out the total channel count. I only watch about
30 channels types in total and only watch about 3 to 4 channels on average through out
the viewing day. Cost is around $184.00 per month after all the fees and taxes. Average
cost per day each yr. $6.05 for tv and net.
