feild by my house
hello all at cox engine forum, i have a question that has been nagging at for a while now, i live in lakewood colorado, and there is a huge feild by my house that is at least 2 acres, there is a park and a baseball diamond in the feild that on,ly take up like 1/2 acre. the question is that... does anyone think i would be a able to fly some of my cox gas airplanes in this feild as well as a old timer satyr that i am building to use a o.s. 46la engine. i have already called the lakewood police helpline and the lady on the phone told me that there is not any local laws that would prevent me from flying my gas planes in this feild, also i should probly mention that on the lightpolls by the park that are posted "future school zone" but those signs have been up there for about 25 years according to what my mother told me ,
can someone please tell me what they think, this feild is perfect for me because i do not drive yet and is only a 2 minute walk from my house [img][/img] that is the old timer satyr

lazer-works
Thats how its spelled Mitch. That is where I got my ladybug short kits from.
Your field: you may not enjoy such a small-ish field with a .40 size model or a 2M sailplane, but you may like a small-ish 1/2 plane for that size field.
My fields are either larger or smaller than that, I prefer flying in my back yard which is pretty small for flying, but a lazybee can manage just fine as well as my littlest stick.
The ladybug is a 020 version of the lazybee, lazerworks is where I got my ladybug kits.
There are a few places to get the Lastick kits, I know a guy that does them 2 for $30 shipped, thats where I got mine. He is doing a jr.falcon build over on the other forum site;but I can`t remember which one

Just how short of a line can you fly with those little .020 and .010 planes?

ummmmm
I`m guessing you mean control line .....I havn`t flown control line since I was a kid. I only ever flew a cox: peewee 020, black widow 049 and the .15sportman on control line. .010, I would have no clue. peewee, I only ever used about 15' of line, 049, about 20'max, and the sportsman was about 25' totally nuts fast ; but I like that kind of apeed and I never got dizzy
I fly r/c in my yard thats about 45yards x about 100yards with my littlest stick, surrounded by biggy trees and obstacles, with a powerline running through the best part of it(go figure right?)
HENCE, lots of crashes
my uncle lives about 1-2 miles down the road, he has 2 fields I fly at. 1 is about 1 -2 acres, the other is about 4 acres. Over at my dads house 10 miles away I have a field that is 12 acres surrounded by forrest and 1 that is 80 acres with a great/ish view of about 6 square, open miles;Dad lives on a hilltop. I have litterally lost planes out of range with the late 80`s radio gear there. Most prominent memmory: a cox r/c ezbee with a black widow on the nose for extended flight times got up into the prevailing winds and taken away due to a kick up elevator.
Thats why I have the farcebug, the little plane that could, and 2 ladybug kits, 2 Lastick kits , a radical r/c : micro bipe, mini bipe and wicked wing kits sitting here waiting for me to build them.
I have the clancy aviation video tape that Andy Clancy sold back in the day that showed him crashing, trying to destroy the lazybee with a Cox black widow 049 on it. Cartwheels, stalled on purpose to nose in, etc. ,etc. showing off the planes durability; a few rubber bands and back in the air.
It also showed him flying in the alley at his apartment, that was the reason he designed/built the lazybee, so he could fly in minimal space at home instead of loading up and going to a club or field.
I have got to figure out how to convert that video to a transferable media;its a real hoot

15" is the smallest I went and it was rather dizzy I recommend 18" I used wax dacron and went up to 25" but had little control I would say that would be fine if I used less draggy steel lines.
