Cox Engine of The Month
Reed Speed 2016 WINNER!!!
Reed Speed 2016 WINNER!!!
We had a low turnout for the event this time around. After extending the deadline one month I only recieved one video. I can't point fingers because even though I finished my model early I have yet to fly it.
Without further ado here is winner Eric La Parks' (get back) video:
I recorded a time of 27:39. Using the formula of 1800/.5 mile time that is a speed of 65.71mph, a very good effort!
Bernie of cox international has graciously agreed to supply Eric with a $25 dollar gift certificate for his efforts. Thank you Bernie and congratulations Eric!
Eric, send me your email in a pm and I will get the gift certificate to you.
Jim

Re: Reed Speed 2016 WINNER!!!
Well done Eric, not only for the flight but for following through and submitting a video when no-one else managed to. Extra good effort after your disasterous maiden with that plane. That thing's movin' pretty quick. Nearly screwed you right into the ground.
I know you guys have been whacked with some pretty nasty weather, but I go back to a point that I made a few weeks ago. I think there are just too many "projects" happening at one time. Our Tach Race died and now this has only just scraped in. It's a real shame because there were some nice planes coming along for the Reed Speed race. Hopefully we can get another round happening when things aren't quite so busy.
Rod.

I'll second those thoughts by Rod! CONGRATULATIONS ERIC! You are an inspiration to us all. My plans were printed and hung by my bench, but never made it to the building board, right next to the laser cut ringmaster Bipe! (Still in pieces). Good plans, good intensions, but ran out of what Kim calls "mojo". So glad you stuck it out to the end and became the Winner!

Hey Eric! Good job Man!
I'll second the elevator throw. It doesn't need much at all in the speed arena.
Too bad nobody else came through, kinda makes me wary of hosting another endurance contest.

Now that's the way to wake up in the morning !! Thank You , First Jim and Bernie for having this event !! Thanks all of my friends here at CEF I was about to order some goodies from Cox International and the prize money will surly make it easier Yes I noticed I had the control rod in the wrong hole at the bellcrank and thought I'll just deal with it everything is glued in tight , that was right at 20 mph faster than the reed speed I had entered last year so that excites me too . Rod the mishap came after this run I was happy all I needed was one run!! <<<< Since we have no problem building maybe it should bee a NO FLY EVENT >>> HA HA !! That was too easy guys need to pick it up a notch ! Thanks again and lets get them babes out of the hanger !!!

Re: Reed Speed 2016 WINNER!!!
Hello! Just a quick question for clarification .... shouldn't this be posted as the 2015 Winner rather than the 2016 Winner?? Granted the close of the event was graciously delayed and thus the results posted in 2016; the event itself was opened and generally conducted through 2015 .... yes?? no??
I pose this question in hopes that there will be a new contest opened in 2016 .... now that it seems like "Life" will be a bit more understanding to me and I might be able to give Eric some competition!

I'm not going to have time to CD the contest this year but I would be happy to hand it off to someone. They can do whatever they want with the rules as it would be there contest. I would ask that models built but not flown in the last contest be allowed to compete in the next running but that would up to whoever takes it over.

Re: Reed Speed 2016 WINNER!!!
No it was in the TD .049 class there were actually two difft. classes REED and NON REED , Its pretty funny considering it was the first time I have ever flown a TD engine lol if that first and only flight wouldn't have made it I could not have been in either , It was the last day and a pretty one too ! Thanks Bill , Ericbadbill wrote:Congrats Eric! But... that's a reed engine?
