S.M.A.L.L. Fly-In June 2nd-5th, 2016 in Wrightsville, Arkansas !!!
Knocking around ideas for this coming Spring/Summer road trips. Any of you guys know of clubs that may still host Fly-Ins for Mr. Musciano's 1/2A Planes?
I'm searching now, but haven't come up with any sites other than some older ones from the Alameda Aer-O-Nut's, which is a little out of my range.
For that matter, any interest in a group of us getting together at the most geographically-friendly spot? Our Fly-It-If-You-Got-It meeting in St. Louis was a real hoot, so I can just imagine some of the fun to be had with more members of this bunch.

Word on the street is the 2016 Tucson 1/2a scale contest will be flying Musciano on Saturday, multi engine scale on Sunday. This is still in the rumor stage.

SMALL 2016
Kim-My mission this past year was to round up as many "1/2A" models as possible at SMALL 2015. We had an awesome turn out of more than 70 planes powered by .010-.09 glow and diesel engines back in June. A number of us were flying 1/2A control line at the south end of the flight line. I think SMALL 2016 in Wrightsville, AR would be a great place for a 1/2A Fun Fly. The goal once again, is to get at least 100 planes powered by .010-.09. If several CEF guys can make it, we'll easily exceed 100 and maybe set a record for the largest 1/2A gathering in the U.S. .....at least in the past 20 years.
I figure, if John Brodak can bring control line back from the dead....we can resurrect 1/2A RC and control line again....especially in light of all the FAA registration drama recently. In Model Aviation Magazine, you'll notice Editor Jay Smith holding a Cox PT-19 in his column. That started with a conversation I had with him at AMA Expo 2015 concerning MA needing to bring back what we lost when Flying Models Magazine disappeared....articles about control line, free flight, building, etc. Jay has done it this year and even ran Larry Kruse's article on SMALL 2015. All good for the hobby as we try to expose the next generation to what we all love.
I hope you guys can make it to SMALL 2016, my daughter and I will be there representing the California 1/2A Chapter.

Oh yeah! Figured that was you. My normally slow internet service has now geared down to the sub-glacier crawl setting, but I was able to check out the site you posted!
Yep this is gonna be great! Almost got a new rudder finished for the Lazy Bee---a veteran of S.M.A.L.L. '97 or '98 when it was held over at the plantation east of Little Rock.
My whole night just got a lot better! Looking forward to meeting you and your daughter...AND lighting up some nitro !!!
Thanks again !!!

getback-SMALL is so much fun and the best event we ever attended! Worth every penny spent traveling from California.

If the Sig Fly-In up in Montezuma, Iowa happens on the second weekend in June, the ole Man Cave Van is gonna have a lot of miles put on it by the middle of the month !

I'd love to attend the Sig Fly-In......it looks like a wonderful event and meeting Hazel would be awesome!

2016 scheduling is killing me!
So many events and so little time or money or THE bigger problem...how to justify being one place then way across the country to another MUST attend event... I know...sux to be retired me with a accommodating wife
I always figure to "some day" get to the S.M.A.L.L. event as it is not THAT far from me
June 2~5 2016
This year I certainly desire to be at the (First for me) Last Brodak's as it is a short drive from my in-laws place in upper WVA June 13 - June 18, 2016
On the list are a few of the vintage/nostalgia combat events, Huntersville NC, GSCB New Jersey, Combat Graffiti in Canada I think early July
And I missed last years Bladder Grabber but it is one month after the Grafitti in Canada so two flights to pacific North West is a challenge most likely first weekend in Aug
Back to the S.M.A.L.L in Arkansas.... damn it Kim! I want to meet you and any other CEF who might attend so it is a MUST do event
All this makes my head hurt....wonder if Balgoh can make any of these events

Back at you Fred...on BOTH counts! It'd be great to get you and a bunch of the other True Believers together !!
"Head Hurting"-wise...this whole thing has forced me to actually try to learn to use the Tom Tom GPS system in the van. After a bunch of false starts, it's screen finally showed a nice, fat, squiggly line all the way south to Little Rock, and ANOTHER one heading north to Montezuma !
Just look at all the commotion Tony has caused !!!
AND...further cementing this thread as the pictorial "My Days at the S.M.A.L.L. Fly-in", here are some dynamic photos taken by my Lazy Bee. The grainy images from a Walmart 'Cardboard Camera' are a far cry from the stuff we can do today, but the Bee took it's best shot. 'One Flight, One Shot' was the rule, and I was furiously landing, spinning the film advance dial on the camera, and launching the Lazy Bee again for another photo.
Allen (AKA Aero) stands next to me during one of the Bee's photo passes. He also took the Lazy Bee for some laps through the assortment of R/C and free Flights up in the busy air over Marmelle's Model Airpark.
Andy Clancy was there with his brand new Stagger Bee. E-Powered, it sported internal lighting, making it glow like a Japanese Lantern during it's evening flights.
It was definitely "A Bee Thing" !

Yup...I'm that guy.....causing a commotion. Whatever it takes to get Cox flyers to SMALL 2016. We need to set some records:
-Most Cox powered planes at an event
-Most Cox powered planes in the air at one time
-Most Cox Free Flight Helicopters in the air at one time
Feel free to add to the list. Just 5 months and counting.

Steve Staples has confirmed SMALL dates are now locked in....2-5 June 2016, just a little more than four months away. Several of us will arrive as early as Monday, May 30th and staying until Monday, Jun 6th.
Here's the SMALL RC Groups thread below and I'm looking forward to another awesome gathering.

OOOOH you Hard-Core Types always raise the bar....well, I'm not intimidated !! Wonder if they'll let me sleep in the van out there on the field...
The folks in Montezuma may not let me in the place when they see me after a week of van camping in Arkansas, but so be it!

Most-Battered-Disrespected-But-Still-Able-To-Sort-Of-Fly Airplane/Cox Engine Combo
("Flying" to include rolling along the ground and hitting bumps hard enough to detect a glint of daylight beneath the fuselage/carcass for a millisecond or so)
...not that I'm wanting to cant the event for any ringer I might possess....

Yes sir, I'll proudly wear that label Kim. This hard-core type is maximizing his fun, vacation time, and every penny of this $1.7K trip. Definitely worth fewer Cox engines in the collection that month.
By the way, there is a hose at the field but wait until after we head back to the Days Inn to use it. All kidding aside, you're welcome to use the shower in our room during your campout, unless you like to marinade in BO and castor for a week. At minimum, shower before you visit with Hazel.
I like your Most Battered addition.
Speaking of the Days Inn-Little Rock Airport, I spoke with the Manager this morning and she's offering a discount price of $55 a night during the week of the event.
Guys-Just let them know you're attending the "SMALL Model Airplane Event" and you'll get the discount.
