Re: How's the weather?
No snow here this year, just 2 days of about 40mm last week usually its -15C to -25C here in January and worse in February and 8 to 10 foot of snow but only -7C today and very windy,
Report says it will snow today and other parts of Bulgaria seem to have heavy snow so...maybe
Last weeks snow was great for flying, but none today...yet
Or local weather reports

Re: How's the weather?
It's been unseasonably warm in the 70s, even a couple of days near 80. I'm not able to fly yet but I can make the walk to and from the shop fairly well now. So I've been working a some on the Cardinal. Very slowly, but a little here, a little there. I tried turning circles in the house and was surprised it was pretty pain free and balanced. So I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll be ready to fly when contest season starts in May.

That’s good news. Been wondering about you Ol’ Boy. December didn’t work out. But soon enough I’ll be there to drag your butt around. Until then keep on healing!
Freezing rain in Oklahoma. Took an hr to de-ice the wings before I flew out to the Space Coast today.

Re: How's the weather?
We had freezing rain here. Was a skating rink last night on the way home. Had to scrape a 1/4” of ice off the windshield. I’d rather have snow than freezing rain any day. We won’t see 80 here till May I bet.

Re: How's the weather?
Hanging out for some rain here. February's our driest month and always comes with the threat of fire. We've nearly made it through unscathed. Just had two days of gale force winds here but nice and calm today. Waaaay too much work to do to consider a fly. Just trying to put the finishing touches on my new barn. (Did I say new?? Been trying to finish it for a year now.)

Here in Rhode Island.. we got 8" of snow two days ago. Today was 63F and tomorrow is forecast to reach 70F. Pretty strange for February in these parts..

Here in southern Indiana it was 75 degrees yesterday. I called into work and said “ I’m having eye problems, I can’t see coming into work on a 75 degree in February.LOL,I stayed home and worked in the yard.

Yup.. it's snowing right now. Nothing sticking though.. the ground is too warm from the last few warm days. Yesterday was nice. I got out the garden-rake and smoothed-out some tire-ruts in the lawn from when the storage-unit was removed last Fall.

Surfer_kris wrote:The winter is nice here now, a few degrees below zero (°C) and lots of snow. I need to put skis on a few planes...
Have you seen these? These ski's I designed for 1/2A size airplanes.
So easy to make.. even if you needed to scale them up. Made from .010" (.25mm) aluminum sheet.. craft (popsicle) sticks, alloy tubes to fit gear-axles, and 2 small screw-eyes to attach string. I think I used a lg. craft-stick for a ski-template. The craft-stick ski-frame is designed to be shock-absorbing. I mounted the wood-frame to the aluminum-ski using double-sided foam (mounting) tape. The little screw-eyes provide a place to tie a short length of string connecting the two ski's. A rubber-band hooks-around the string.. and attaches to a tail-skid to keep the ski's from wind-milling during flight.

Nice looking skis
Does the snow stick to the metal?
I have some commercial plastic ones to try out, and I've also save a few drawings for wooden ones. Should get one of those a "transmitter mittens" too I guess. I don't have quite the same feeling when flying with gloves (even thin ones) as without.

I haven't noticed any sticking.. but they're not flat on the bottom. I used an awl to "groove" the aluminum pieces prior to assembly. There are 3 alternating (top/bottom) grooves on each ski. Two on the topside-edges and one on the bottom center to form a "W-channel" along the bottom. The grooves begin a little ways back from the front tip, to allow a radius there. I felt that this would help the ski's to track straight.. but it may also prevent sticking. The axle-tubes are simply glued-on with blobs of epoxy.

Re: How's the weather?
So over the winter we had the last area of the house flooring re-done from very low quality snap lock fake wood to wood looking tile and it came out most beautimous
The tile guy did a very good job matchng each hallway door but one... all rooms had tile but one is still laminat flooring
Told him to just leave me a straight line close and I would cut back the (room) wood and add in my own Black Walnut transition strip....
What does this have to do with weather... ?
We in Texas are in roller coaster mode as the Nor Easters that punish the North East first drop down on us heading back up to Roddie and friends
most days ranging form 50~70F and then 2 days later 20~30s
Today I am schlepping by butt back and forth from the wood shop to main house and starting to sweat my shirt and hat wet... stopped and looked at the thermometer...91 F and climbing.......wheew! bet we have snow next week
Now 89F at 1500 hrs
