Brodak 1/2A Grumman Wildcat flight
Hi all finally I've gotten a video of my Brodak wildcat unforchantly though this is not the maiden, The camera flunked out due to the battery during it's maiden flight back in june which was I'd might say quite squirrely due to being a bit tail heavy, however this flight went well since i corrected the problems but still a little light on the lines so I'm still tweaking er. this is it's third flight and is powered by one of my TD .051's. The launch was done by hand due to the grass and hand launched very easily.
The TD pulled it was gusto however no stunting was done due to my lack of knowledge of stunting but still was fun. it was fairly breezy so it was a good test of it's ability to handle the wind which it did very well however it began to lean out due to a loose head (Yup i didn't check it but no damage!) but it still ran the tank out. It was on a hard tank and no bladder, I will be making one for it though. BadBill flew it and put it through a few maneuvers and it did supprizinly well. the flight was fairly short because of a lengthy ground run trying to needle the engine (yup the head) but nearly still got two minutes, enough to see how it did. anyway heres the video enjoy! (Bandit)
Oh , No smudge on the lens this time

We're going to fix your lack of knowledge of stunting. When you leave here, you'll know how to fly loops.

It isn't lack of knowledge, I am sure you already know how to do it Bandit.
The biggest hurdle most folks have is wrecking the model, which you will, and often. Once you get past that you will progress very quickly.

Oh i'm sure i can do it, I just like to be prepared when I try. Also want to get the wildcat on a bladder before i start boring holes in the sky lol TD's and hard tanks, in general, don't like each other. I'm gonna start trying with the Ray until I get a bladder made up for it.
@ Rusty:
BTW BadBill may be coming up with me for 1/2A day. He says he's interested in coming.

Haha, okay Bill. Your name will be mentioned if he does a figure 9. We'll walk up to the grass circle for that.TDbandit wrote:badbill wrote:RknRusty wrote:We're going to fix your lack of knowledge of stunting. When you leave here, you'll know how to fly loops.

I can't be that bad
Actually, I've done a loop before but it's been a very long time and it wasn't very pretty when I did it...

Nice flight Bandit! Smooth landing too!
Enjoy your trip to Rusty's stunt school! You and I are at the same place... learning to fly stunts. I guess I really need to spend more time on ironing out the basic maneuvers. Like my wingovers... they aren't very pretty...

And yup, the only way to learn it is to do it. As I said I've got a general idea on how to do it just got to try it. My wildcat really likes the TD that I have on it. just got to fix the tank issue (going to go to a bladder). I'm gonna use the Ray to get started but first, got to switch to a stunt tank on the arrow since it's not set up for stunt. I have a few BW tank and BP sets so I won't have to wait on parts. (Bandit)

The TD will run on a tank just fine during the maneuvers. You just have to have the right design. A narrow longer tank will work better then the wedge. Even a Perfect rectangle tank will work and plumbing it for uniflow is even better. Ken
