Fokker / Messerschmitt Joke

Fokker / Messerschmitt Joke
Reminds me of the old Merv Griffin show interview of the Scandinavian WWI
fighter ace many years ago. Merv asked him to recall his scariest dogfight.
He replied (in a heavy Scandinavian accent... "Vell, ve ver flying at tvelve
thousand veet, and all of a sudden, there vas this fuc*er on the left on me,
a fuc*er on the right, and a fuc*er right in front of me heading straight at
me!" The audience erupted to the ace's profanity when Merv quickly
interjected and said "for the sake of our audience, a Fokker is a type of
German aircraft, right?" The ace replied "Yes, yes, that's true, but these
fuc*ers ver all flying Messerschmitts!"

Nice picture too. Bf 109 #MT-222, the "yeller 2" was piloted by one of my heroes, Mannerheim-Knight Ilmari Juutilainen. Btw he flew a "F**ker", a D XXI model during the Winter War, the plane was very outdated in 1939, but he did shoot down one Russian bomber and damaged & scared away a few more.
In the Continuation War he first flew a Brewster Buffalo, shot down 34 Soviets with it, and almost 60 more with the Messerschmitt. His official "score" was 94 kills, unofficial 126. Never got shot down (except once accidentally by friendly flak) and never lost a wingman either. Not sure what's the Russian for "f*cker" but I am sure he was called that more than once
Here's a wiki page about him:

Sorry about the lecture Loved the joke.

It's a wonder that he shot anything down in a Brewster Buffalo, widely acknowledged as a very poor fighter aircraft.
Years ago I had several Finnish marked Mosen Nagants. On average they were of better quality and more accurate than the equivalent Soviet models. Interesting time in history.

I had saved some info somewhere on a pilot named Juutilainen but can't find it. The name caught me.. because I worked with a guy with that last name. I think the pilot was WW1.. so maybe it could have been Ilmari's father?
Here's some images I had of the Fokker D-XXI

I think the Finnish Air Force was the only operator that had significant success with Buffalos. During WWII the Buffalos shot down about 930 Russian aircraft vs 34 Buffalos lost. The Buffalo was very well liked among Finnish pilots, and it is still somewhat "iconic" aircraft here. It was a surprise to me to find out that most of the world considered it a failure.
I didn't know about the Mosin Nagant rifles before, interesting indeed!

I haven't yet read Ilmari's biography and I don't know if his father was a pilot. Finland didn't really participate in WWI, since we gained our independence from Russia in 1917 during their revolution. Shortly after that we had a rather bloody Civil war, during which the "White" side had two Morane airplanes, one of them donated by Swedish Count Von Rosen. He had painted his lucky charms, big blue swastikas, on the wings of the plane, and later the swastikas became the insignia of the Finnish Air Force. That donation is considered to be the beginning of the FAF. For decades, one aircraft of the FAF has always had the name "Count Von Rosen" painted on it. Currently one of our Hornets carries the name, before that it was a Saab Draken (one of my favourite airplanes), before that a Folland Gnat and so on.
Sorry 'bout the hijack, on with the jokes now
