I'm gonna guess that the fuel tubing was getting pinched when the fuselage was assembled. Ron stated that it ran fine off it's own tank with the fuse apart.. and engine mounted in it. This might also explain fuel spurting out the vent. If the line was pinched by the fuse.. grabbing hold while winding the starter spring could have squeezed the already-pinched line enough to dribble out of a full tank.

sorry guys! I've tried repeatedly to post a pic, but no success so far! all I did was cut off the 1st 2 inches of fuse & built me a firewall & installed a self contained engine/tank combo.. i'll keep trying with uploading the pic.. Ronpkrankow wrote:So...what did you end up doing?

My Hyper Viper is hands down the best flying airplane Cox ever made. Yes even better than the Super Chip and the ME-109. Mike
