Image server is whack...
Anyone having trouble uploading pics again? I'm getting a different option window.. and nothing seems to work.
Re: Image server is whack...
Sorry, I don't mean to disrespect Servimg, but it's just crude, time consuming, and scatters my images all over the place. It's probably currently suffering from bloat because it's so hard to find an image that you know is there, that people are re-uploading the same pic again just to save time.
I quit using Servimg a while ago and went back to photobucket. You can instantly drag and drop multiple files right into it from any folder. The only exception is I have to transfer them from my phone to the computer first. They reside on photobucket in chronological or whatever order I choose. I can upload and compose posts very quickly. I can also right-click any image on the web and upload straight to PB in one action.

Re: Image server is whack...
Servimg is owned by the same company that runs these forums so that's why its built in to the forum. You can use whatever hosting service you want. I have used all sorts of hosting sites, Photobucket is good. TinyPic is owned by Photobucket and is good as well.
Re: Image server is whack...
Is it just pictures uploaded by members that people are having trouble seeing or is it icons and other pictures that are a part of the forum as well? I haven't been having any trouble not seeing pictures so I don't know.
Re: Image server is whack...
Hi Jacob, There have been two separate events in the last week or so. I had trouble a few days ago.. "up-loading" my own pics and inserting the standard "smiley's" that appear on the right column. The URL code appeared in the draft, but when previewing/sending, nothing showed up. This corrected itself an hour or so later.
Last night, a different SERV-IMAGE window popped up after browsing/selecting a file from my computer's hard-drive, with the three options "file", "thumbnail", and "URL"... but choosing any one of them, brought me back to the "browse" window.
Other members pics have also been slow to load on my end lately. Sometimes it takes several seconds.. and I experience flutter (raster?) until all the images in a given thread load-up.
My images are all captured with high-resolution setting on my camera.. (and thus have a large file size).. but I've never had issues before. Maybe SERV-IMAGE is starting to strictly limit file-size, due to it's storage capacity? I don't know a whole lot about how it works.. but I haven't been doing anything different since these issues arose.

I tried uploading a picture for the Engine of the Month competition last night and gave up after three attempts.

Re: Image server is whack...
I did contact Servimg and they aren't reporting any server issues at the time. I just resynchronized the forum so perhaps that will solve some issues. If it keeps going on, I'll contact support and they'll have to go in and look at the scripts.
Re: Image server is whack...
Are your modems indicating an upload is taking place? Have any of you gone onto the servimg site and paged through to see if your recent uploads are there?

Re: Image server is whack...
Okay, so they've been upgrading changing servimg. The pictures are in alphanumeric order now. I use images from different sources with various naming protocols, and some have real names, so it still like trudging through the tundra mile after mile looking for a particular picture. At least they put a lot more of them on a page now. I have 22 pages of photos. Looks like you can still send only one up at a time. It's like 1998.

Re: Image server is whack...
Earlier I was unable to upload pictures. I just used Photobucket instead. Takes a few seconds more than if Servimg had been working. But, Photobucket seems to handle the whole ordeal better.

Ian, SERV-IMG is still working. Their upload window's "format" changed slightly.. When I get to the stage where I click the "Host it" button.. doing so opens a window with 3 code-format choices. I select (left-click on my PC) the line of code I want.. then "copy" (right-click).. then I select my draft window (the SERV-IMG window disappears) Once I select a location to insert my image; I select the "Insert an Image" button and "paste" the code in to the URL box.. and click the "insert" button. I'm such a "creature of habit".. that if something looks different than usual.. it throws me for a loop! Try what I suggested.. and see if it works for you.
BTW.. I've always chosen the "Image URL" option line of code when uploading. This has not changed.. and still gives me the results as before.

I will give it another whirl but I don't have much patience with misbehaving software.

Re: Image server is whack...
I keep getting "No picture selected for upload" - doesn't matter if I try to upload from the forum or directly to Serv-Img.

Re: Image server is whack...
Same problem here, I see no change in the interface, just won't link to the file I select to upload. When I click "host it" it says no file selected.
Running Safari, done this hundreds of times, just won't upload.

I tried - succesfully uploaded one picture (The Kingshire) and then tried to start another topic with no luck.
