Holding a PeeWee .020 While Running
Somebody mentioned this a while back, I gotta say, it'a very tempting thing to do.

From my experience doing that with a BW, I can tell you that EXHAUST becomes very HOT on the fingertips!
Not a good idea unless you are a mascohist and enjoy pain.

eh, not no mention that you're pretty darn close to the propeller and are liable to get you're fingers in there...
that makes me wonder...if you dropped the thing because it was getting too hot, would it actually bullet through the air,
or fly straight up...or just drop like a rock?

Lol, I think every kid who had one probably tried that, including myself.
It's amazing how quickly parents get upset when you decide (without thought) to fire one up in the house!

Re: Holding a PeeWee .020 While Running
well clearly, firing up something like a black widow spells MURDER. even when running in the back yard they are insanely loud, and if they run in an enclosed space....its better to wear ear plugs. not to mention the exhaust

xD i love the rap crap thing, i can understand you SO well....but why would someone want to hold one of these anyway?
for me it would be scary as hell...and i'm the cautious guy who ALWAYS stays BEHIND the prop...

oh yes, and holding a peewee while RUNNING isnt a good idea either, cause you might fall and damage the engine

The tank can get too hot to hold, particularly if wound up tight. Once released, it will jump forward a little; then as the engine starts to rotate, it does the funky chicken due to being off-balance and heads for the floor.
Well, at least that's what I've been told.
Re: Holding a PeeWee .020 While Running
so its still pretty dangerous...imagine you meet your friends in a bar, your face all scared, and they ask you what the hell happened..."i got mamed by a tiny out of control airplane engine!"

I have done this with engines .010 to .049 they get a bit hot and the castor oil can be unpleasant but nothing you wouldnt be able to handle.

It might just go for your throat! Remember that, while these are small engines, they have enough power to dead-lift a Cox "Skycopter" straight up!

True and enough power to seriously cut you!
Especially with an APC prop.

Glove? All problems would be avoided but, in all honesty why bother? Maybe tape it to your nose and stretch your arms out and run around the yard! Just joking....... I'll probably try it, just because it never crossed my mind before.

I'd sooner hold an enraged yellowjacket in my fingers than a screaming PeeWee .020.

HaHaHa!
The things are like the Tazmanian devil, you don't know which way it is going to go if you toss it,,ask me how I know. I gave a lit 049 a toss one time and it boomeranged on me, went zipping right by my skull. Never did that again.

Some say seeing is believing but I believe you must do it to see how mad it actually is.
If I ever do it again i will get a video.

Question to nitro:
What principle of flight is demonstrated by "The Flying Shop Rag?
(Leonardo DaVinci would be proud if you know. Hint: Leonardo was the first to conceptualize the helicopter)

Re: Holding a PeeWee .020 While Running
It's true.
A friend so I put for the first time in motion a engine 0.49 at home.
So I fell in love the hobby just heard the noise and saw the air by the movement of propeller.
And since then spent 38 years.

Newtons 2nd Law says:
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Not sure if this was what you were looking for.
There is flying shop rag video on youtube with an .010 hauling it. I'm on a public computer so I can't post it. Do you just put a tiny bit of fuel in to run for 15 seconds? I'd like to try it sometime.
