Bed Bug Prevention: Prevention Is Better Than Cure
Bedbugs are little bugs that can be very annoying when they infest your home. It can be really uncomfortable to have sleepless nights from constant itching. The bugs want to feed on warm human blood and you might find yourself with spots all over your body from their bites. Bedbugs can also be found in unsanitary places like where pets rest and cluttered parts of the house. They can also be transferred from one place to the other; usually, people who travel a lot are the victims in this scenario. They can attach themselves on luggage, such that from your trip you can transfer them to your home. Bed bug prevention is easier and cheaper than actual treatment.
If you travel constantly, it's important to watch out where your bags and clothes are kept through your stay. Before unpacking, make sure that you carry out a thorough inspection of the room - bed sheets, mattress, closets and any other place where your luggage can catch the bugs. Putting clothes in plastic bags is a guarantee of effective bed bug prevention. Another effective way is to make sure that you use a bed bug killer around the area that you sleep and in your luggage. This also goes for anywhere bugs could hide. All your dirty clothes should also be sealed in plastic bags and not scattered on the floor. Bedbug traps are effective bed bug killer and they should be used on bed posts. This way you are able to trap bugs that are coming from another room before they get to you.
After you get from your trip make sure you wash all your clothes. As it is, hot water is effective bed bug killer and therefore you should use it to wash your clothes. Make sure that you dispose the plastic bags in the trash can outside the house to ensure that any bedbugs on them don't get into the house. Maintaining a clean house can also work as a bed bug killer. Ensure that you also constantly change the bedsheets to ensure that bedbugs won't find a home in them. For proper bed bug prevention, make sure that you constantly inspect mattresses and other areas that the bedbugs could hide. If there are any signs of the bugs make sure that you get rid of them with the proper insecticides
Another way of bed bug prevention is by using mattress and pillow covers for your bed. These covers are specially made to keep out bedbugs and they have pockets for trapping the bugs. There are so many of theses covers in the market so go out and get one. After you have maintained all the preventative measures, it's time to maintain the precautionary measures. It is important to maintain the same level of cleanliness. This way you are able to prevent the occurrence of more infestation. These bugs are known to cause rashes and allergies to humans. It is important to get rid of them before they cause devastating effects.

Preventing bed bugs is simple. Sleep in ONLY in clean bedding and change it regularly.

Duke:
Seems like common sense to only sleep in clean rooms and bedding and avoid accomdations (and people) that aren't.
Bed bugs and cockroaches inhabit places that are dirty and unkept.

In general, I believe your right. I only know what I've read different places, but they can be there just long enough for you to pick them up at a hotel.

I've never had that suspicion in any motel/hotel where I'd "park my bod" for the night.
Of course, I don't stay in "flop houses" (cheap accomdations) where I be taking my chances.
