Yes...ALL of that micro-engineering stuff is great! I think I'm really doing something if I just get a little junk engine to run...the tolerances required in MAKING these micro-engines make me feel like a caveman trying to chop down a tree with a sharp rock!
It must be some kind of addiction, because I was willing to take all kinds of abuse from my fellow flyers for "fooling with those tiny toy engines" !

Re: Cox .010 appreciation thread
Some of you may know this already buts the cox tee dee .010 is not the smallest ic engine ever mass produced.
The smallest is bambi 0.15 cc from England that was made I'm 1959.
It was 0.009cuin

Re: Cox .010 appreciation thread
Imagine the "abuse" I get for running engines that weigh less than their spinners servos and even control horns.

You're not alone ! But how COOL it is to pilot a little biplane, cruising across the grass at eye-level, with that slobbering little monster singing away ?!
It's just one of those deals where you're on-board with the idea or not...but whatever...it sure is fun for me!

yeah little planes that are simple cruisers that barely climb and look like they are constantly in a harrier that is well cool. especialy when they sound like they should be going 100 mph.
Re: Cox .010 appreciation thread
If anyone is interested, in August I purchased a NIB Cox TD .010 AND a "raw stock"* Cox PeeWee .020 from a vendor in California. With shipping included they came in at slightly less than $200. (details for the asking)
*re: RAW STOCK- seems Cox ran out of containers prior to the end of the production run. My engine came complete with tools and instruction manual as would a NIB.
Sure, you can "scrounge" better deals certainly. I wanted the assurance of totally NEW engines complete with NIB tools and information without the uncertainty of buying "unknown "hot deal" engines.
As life is too short to drink cheap wine, so too with buying Cox engines.
I'm very pleased with my purchases.

Steve is a straight-up nice guy to deal with. He's also one of the regulars at the annual SMALL event in Little Rock every June.

Re: Cox .010 appreciation thread
Yes, Steve is indeed a nice guy. I met him at SMALL several years ago and consider him a best friend. He had a few of his prototype .010 throttles with him. We ran one and I was very impressed. My wife must have seen the gleam in my eye because she bought one for me on the spot as a father’s day gift. Yes some of us are truly blessed.

Re: Cox .010 appreciation thread
I have never met him in person
Bur we emailed a few times because I wanted one of these amazing throttle rings but I got there a too late.
He did however take the time to warn me about 2 engines when I wanted one of that size range.
He just seems like a great guy.

I must add my agreement in this appreciation of Steve Adams as a fine person. Within the model aviation hobby there are some awfully fine people; Steve Adams is one of them.
Here's to Steve, Bernie and the others with whom I've done business.
Cheers!

Should need parts, I will. At the present time I have nineteen Coxes all of which are in excellent to new condition. That "stash" will serve me well into the future.
What I most lack is the convenient opportunity to use them.

BTW, glad you caught my dig at Arnold S. "The BROKE cookie"
My fav RC plane is a Piper Super Cub EP w/48" wingspan so I need lots of space to fly it (safely) which means driving an hour or so. My fav CL plane has a 16" wingspan which may be flown right here in my neighborhood. The neighbors seem to enjoy "Crazy Dave" spinning around in circles. They're just hoping for me to get dizzy and fall down.

Is this some super secret area in our "neck of the woods"? LOL. I'm kind of leery about showing up at a school yard or someplace like that...

Re: Cox .010 appreciation thread
remember the scene with him in "jingle all the way" ?
he totally freaks out about howard eating his cookies.
assuming arnold is hindu, he must think they are his relatives. therefore, i
figured he IS in fact a cookie. i'm deeply sorry for bringing this up.
