I stocked up on .357 mag a while back. I saw some 30-06 yesterday though. I was wanting some .22shorts for varmint control. I am not planning for a zombie apocalypse......

Ditto the scarcity of handgun ammo at Cabela's.

Re: At my last gun show
I just went last Friday, and stocked up on 40S&W ( as much as I could ever want ). And Saturday after the air fair ran by a local store and found they had just put out a case of .22 long rifle, which they would only let me buy two boxes (but they were 325 counts) Here we can find most hunting rounds anytime, but .22, AR, and AK rounds are still a little hard to come by. Most pistal rounds can be found also. Things are getting better in Washington state.
SD- Are going to the Lacey Cabelas? The shelves were overflowing with everything but .22 ammo last week.

Re: At my last gun show
Not sure that SD is fretting NOT finding ammo as much as he and I agree the US Government is doing some interesting buying in mass quantity for questionable reasons.
I suspect that between all to real world shooting wars, hoarding by citizens in several countries, and our government meddling in a free market, the net result is inflated prices, and scarcity of ammo producing components....
Sure would like to follow the money on some of the Social Security admins ammo purchases
someone posted a pseudo fact about the SSA XXX # of agents (I am too lazy to look it up again)divided by the ammo bought, ONLY equaled less than 500 rounds per year for training....the curious thing is...95% of all SSA "agents" are desk drones who have no issued weapon....go figure

Re: At my last gun show
you have to go to walmart as soon as they stock the ammo shelves, a couple of days ago me and my dad went to walmart and we just caught the guy as he was putting the ammo on the shelves, we ended up getting 425 22lr rounds

Re: At my last gun show
Well, lucked out on my timing. I was looking over my stores, and placed an order for 500 rounds of .30-06 and 1200 rounds of 7.62x39 just a couple of weeks before the Sandy Hook shooting. I've got plenty of everything else but .45 ACP on hand, but I haven't been shooting in a while as I don't want to shoot up my reserves. I recently fell into 4000 pieces of cleaned .40 S&W brass. Now I just need to fall into 4K of primers, bullets, and a few pounds of powder. Reloading supplies are as scarce around here as manufactured rounds are.
