diesel conversion
Hi, if I make a diesel conversion for my baby bee engine would it shorten my engines life time

Yes, it certainly would, because the conrod pin of the crankshaft is not machined for such immense compression.
after a few runs, it would break off and you would have one sad, broken engine.
my advice: dont do it. its really not worth it.

installing the new crankshaft can be quite a hassle too, but our administrator god has disassembled a babe bee and put pictures of it in the forum.

maybe, its best if you buy an already fully converted diesel cox.
look in the store of cox international. they are great guys, and they have conversions for a very reasonable price.

yes it will shorten engine life but not always by a lot i have diesel pee wee .020 and it has had about 3 litres of fuel through it and have never had a real problem the .049 might be fine stock without a diesel crank as my pee wee was the only problem i have had converting cox engines to diesel was the .010 my one broke 3 cranks but both my diesel .020 and .049 ran great and still do as a diesel.

although once i got a hydraulic lock and snapped a pee wee shaft but that was only when i modified the head by puttunig in an aluminium counter gasket. if you buy a conversion head i reccomend the MECOA one not the davis one although the davis one is fine the MECOA is better.
