props
So then its not the engine, but the prop which caused your throttling problem. I guess now we see why COX used such a prop on the 010 in the first place,I always wondered about that but never experimented with the props myself

Re: COX engine throttles
Yes its the engine, like i said i have two. Both behave the same.
I tried adding head gaskets to lower compression to run the larger prop, i did not notice much of a difference.
The 010 will turn the 020 prop at about 18000 rpm without throttle easily, but throttling doesn't work too well, its too much, the engine cannot rev up.
Ditch the throttle and it works.
I can see this might be useful for free flight...
Hmm i haven't done that in a while...

engine
So your engine needs replaced then, not cheapest fix ever but managable as a simple solution.

Re: COX engine throttles
No no no , seems to be a misunderstanding here... the engines are fine, they will not spin the big prop,as mentioned there is a reason only one prop works on them. Cox knew their stuff.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOh, so I had it for the most part here all along......
I`m still wondering if its a load from the pitch, or simply a rotating mass problem rather like flywheel effect

Re: COX engine throttles
I think its a bit of both, but I'm leaning towards the weight of the prop, the 010 props i have come it at 2grams or close to it, while the 020 although being much bigger is only 1.5grams, so after cutting it down.. its very light... flywheel effect is what I'm thinking.
I remember a post by Roger on RCU saying how his throttle works sooo good with the 020 prop and how quiet it is.. well from my experiments.. he was half right..yes its very very quiet... but the throttle response is absolutely terrible.
