(WTB) CL kits
Looking for full size .19-.35 CL kits or 1/2A Goldberg kits (Little toot, Swordsman 18 or Stuntman 23)
Would really like a Sterling S-1, but would settle for an S1-A or maybe even a Jr.
I am not set on those kits exactly and would consider others.
Let me know what you got!
Thanks,
Ron

Re: (WTB) CL kits
Ron, seeing you like the Ringmaster, did you ever consider a foam wing Ringmaster? I just completed one, simple to build and designed to withstand gravity surges. The wing plugs into the fuse and is lightly glued into a saddle. This should alleviate the destruction of the wing. External controls can be introduced, I put mine internally and regret it actually. I built mine from scratch and seeing the wing is the most difficult having it in foam really expedited the build. It weighs in about 7 oz's lighter than a standard Ring. That's pretty much the weight of the Fox .35 in itself. Ken

I didn't even know a foam version existed. Lightly glued you say? I assume it's still plenty strong?
I have never manipulated foam before, how hard is it?

Ron:
As to the "Lil' Toot bipe I built the Goldberg version awhile back.
With a BW up front it was miserably nose-heavy and had the glide angle of a common brick.
Enter a PeeWee .020. Balances nicely and is hugely more fun to fly although it still is of "slab wing" construction. (Give me a "built-up" wing with an airfoil any day for a good flyer)

I have a Kayeff ME-109 scale Japanese post war per fab model. 34" wingspan 960mm. Full body. Many parts are bagged and taged. Wheels/belcrank /hardware. Very nice. $48.00/ potage $11.85 Conus only USA. .15-.19 size. This is full body model not profile. It is UC model but sure it could be converted to what ever you want,

Re: (WTB) CL kits
Ron, I managed to get a pic of my newest Ringmaster. Phil Cartier provided the wing cores. It utilizes a 1/2" center rib, (2) 1/8' x 3/8' spars which I used pine. Spruce or bass would work equally as well. The bellcrank is floating on a music wire pin that goes through the center rib. I should've mounted external controls rather than internal. It was a lot of effort to make this work but I did it. The wing halves are joined to the center rib using white glue. Phil's SLC covering is then laminated across the joints where the foam cores butt the center rib. Successive pieces of Phil's covering is laminated over and over 6 times across the trailing edge. When this wing hits the ground literally nothing happens. I prefer to use fiberglass drywall tape about 24" long parallel to the leading edge directly over the spars and applied with thinned yellow glue (Titebond).
I flew it a few weeks ago, it did pretty well. You can see the ply saddle I provided in the fuse. The wing slips right into it. If this wing breaks, pull it out purchase another and plug it in. A cool feature. Ken

Nice Ringmaster Ken,
I like the foam core wing idea, at this stage of the game I need one built of titanium.

S-1
Ron
I cut out a S-1 kit in a weekend on my scroll saw. Why not scratch build one. Nothing better than flying a plane that you built totally from scratch.

I've scratched a few Jim. To include my Baby Ring. It is fun I agree. A full size Ring looks daunting though!!!!

Re: (WTB) CL kits
It's no different than building the baby ring , except it's bigger. I've built two baby's and a S-1 and I actually think the bigger build is easier, and the end result is more rewarding. I'm building a Brodak Cardinal kit right now that was given to me. I've got a Twister and a Super Combat Streak (built up fuselage version) kit's under my bench waiting on me. I also want to build a Dick Mathis profile stuka some time this winter. Lot's of projects and so little time. Ha, Oh! and then there is half A, I'm up to 8 cox engines so far and growing. I want to build a Debolt 1/2A twin before spring too!! I am enjoying the kit but I think I prefer scratch building though. Hang in there my man.
