The outside diameter stays the same as it fills. It just gets longer as you add more fuel.cribbs74 wrote:I guess I had that coming. I suppose the size of the bladder depends on how much you pump into it. I hope it works well for you!

Yeah I got a first hand lesson from Ken last week. It was kinda cool watching it grow in the wing cutout.
He made it look easy. I think I am
Going to go ahead and switch out my medallion and run a TD on the Baby Clown seeing as I have got a hang of the plane now.

Re: New power plant for the satan
Keep one thing mind, when your burning more fuel, your making more power. All of my Tee Dee venturi's using bladders are nearing the max 5/32" hole size when I use the venturi. In the situation using the Norvel, I totally get rid of the venturi set up. You now have a gaping hole in the case. In order to launch correctly, you have launch dead rich pinching the bladder prior to launch. You wouldn't be able to do that flying with a stooge. Higher nitro means more rpm's + more fuel and less run time. Lighter pitch and smaller diameter props+ more rpm's and more fuel as well. Seeing that all of us are also at different elevations, this is also going to have an impact on how long our engines run. It really takes experimentation. I use a 3" long bladder with 1oz. I also have up to 3 head shims using Nelson plugs in my engines. This lowers the compression which in order to make the same power without the shims you have to lean the engine. This is how I'm getting 5 minutes out of my run times.
I switch to Nelson hot plugs and run 10% at times to conserve on my high nitro usage. If I'm going to be sport flying all day I will use 10%, The run times are accelerated by almost an additional 1-2 minutes. The high nitro really bothers my eyes. One thing is for certain, we can all explain what works for us when were at home, this doesn't always work for the other person who's in different climates. It just boils down to trying many things. Now that the cold has fell upon the northeast, I can really back off the nitro. Props are more efficient in the colder denser air and engine cooling is at a plus. Ken

Showed the pic of the Satan with the bladder to a coworker today, he said it looks like my plane grew a set of balls. I hope he's right.
