010's more run time and POWER I MUST HAVE MORE POWER WMAHHAHA
Although my Mum thought I was unique I think sadly she was probably wrong!
I don't imagine I'm the only one of you guys that has to fiddle with things.
Some of you have probably seen my attempts to get a 4.5 oz 2 channel plane to fly. Well, fly it does but only for a minute or so till the motion lotion runs out then it 'glides' like your kitchen sink but that's another story.
I've been messing around with different bits and pieces in an effort to primarily get more run time and hopefully more
reliable full power.
I've got stuff from that nice guy Hank at Texas Timers (great service btw) have also attempted Rustys excellent non pressure bladder system and have tentatively reached the conclusion that the reason Cox stuck tanks on the back of the 010's (poss the 020's as well) is the draw is so slight that the fuel has to be as close to the venturi as possible.
The 'Course' thread on the needle probably disallows the use of a pressure bladder as there is no difference between
almost runs and floods. I'm playing with differing bladders so we may yet work that out...
Watch this space over next few weeks and I'll report back with my very unscientific findings.
Mean time here's my first Rustyalike bladder made from the little finger cut from a techies rubber glove which holds an easy 10 cc of squirt.

I usually use the standard cox tank, but when i want longer i use something mounted on the side of the plane , 3 things i usually use as the tank ( used on the side of the fus, like the plastic freeflight tanks , but much lighter ), the plastic bulb off a pipette, a syringe or a 10ml aluminium cosmetic tube ( we use these in packing mini superglue tubes ), when you get them they are open at one end and have an eye cream nozzle on the other end , i use the nozzle end to put the fuel tube on
But most times what i do is start the engine with the standard tank full, with a full hypodermic needle syringe sticking out of the fuel tank vent, once running and tuned i slowly squeeze the tank full again just before i launch it ( and remove the needle/syringe first )

I kInda tried that Will but it's been so cold recently once it's fired I've just wanted to chuck it in the air.MiniatureAircraftFactory wrote:I usually use the standard cox tank, but when i want longer i use something mounted on the side of the plane , 3 things i usually use as the tank ( used on the side of the fus, like the plastic freeflight tanks , but much lighter ), the plastic bulb off a pipette, a syringe or a 10ml aluminium cosmetic tube ( we use these in packing mini superglue tubes ), when you get them they are open at one end and have an eye cream nozzle on the other end , i use the nozzle end to put the fuel tube on

It'll still only fly for 1.5/1.75 mins anyway, perhaps I'm expecting too much but I'd like 6 or 7 mins.

Actually, not a bad idea Dave.
Not sure what/how I'd explain having the things to the Curly Person,
Probably the most unlikely excuse ever. I can see it now..

John,
Just have her buy them for you.... That way she is in the know. Can prophylactics withstand the rigors of Nitro fuel? I mean they are pretty tough and all but nitro and methanol are as well.
What's it going to look like when you fill one at the field? Not to mention when you have a crack up and your fuel tank goes bouncing down the airfield.

I'd say they would work but don't try it on afterwards
They may need to be replaced periodically.

Actually they do make a excellent dirt covers for recievers. Cut the end off and stretch it over the reciever.

We were issued with condoms in the Army, no, not for the obvious, to fit over your rifle muzzle in wet or dusty conditions! Reason they used them was that you could fire through them in an emergency.

If you can fire through them why bother with protection?
I kid but it seems everyone here was in the army or navy or airforce or soemthing.

Bladder
This is a little big for a small engine but Gerber makes baby pacifier that makes a dandy low pressure bladder. Remove un need material and make fitting to fit opening. Wall-Mart/ Drug stores carry these. 2-4 oz. can go a long way. Better for .049/.09/.15 size planes. You could also make bracket for remote nva to get amount of fuel to run. Its done in combat all the time. Just make sure you have a big Rx battery. Dan

Re: 010's more run time and POWER I MUST HAVE MORE POWER WMAHHAHA
Darol Cady sells a tetra tank. I have the 3 oz on the way for one of the TeeDees I have for some pressure fun.

Maybe you could expand on this idea for a smaller size.
