Dear Bernie,
I have alittle concern about the cylinders in Xtreme and Blue Bullet.
"Inside of exhaust ports will be unplated (not oxided)"
Will this part easily become rusty? Any suggestion to protect it for long term?
thanks

That is correct Aung.
The ports were machined open after they were originally plated by Cox.
Unfortunately, it not possible to plate them after the machining as the plating would also get inside the cylinder. Cox plated everything first and then did the final honing inside the cylinder, something we can't do as were are using finished cylinders to begin with.
We did experiment with gun-blue but it was tedious, messy and not very effective.
Yes, the exposed parts can rust but I think that a light coat of oil would go a long way to alleviate this concern.

Thanks Bernie for your information.
I first tried WD forty to exposed cylinder part, but it dried out after sometime. And now I coated that part with a drop of Castor oil, hoping it will protect for longterm.
I bought some vintage engines that gummed up with castor oils. They look very dirty at first but after immersing and washing with fuel, look like new. Castor oil preserve them well >30-40 years.

Castor oil will work but it does dry up and can gum up the engine. This product allegedly does not dry up even after many years:

Yeah except Xenalube comes in five flavors with a special warming sensation that feels all nice and tingly. Guaranteed to keep your parts from rusting off.aungmyatoo wrote:Is it the same as Xenalube?
