Re: Why was CEF off-line?
Offline? It was online all day for me! I haven't heard anything about it being offline from anyone else. I'll look into this.

Hmm, odd. They (forumotion) must have been doing some updating or something. I usually check the forum at least every hour on my phone if I'm not on my computer.

CEF was down for about 24 hrs, beginning Friday around 15:00 hrs Pacific time.
Travis emailed a few people, including us, to advise he had set up a temp forum somewhere so that we could at least communicate.

FLASH!
ET called and asked if everyone was enjoying the electro-magnetic pulse that he sent our way.

24 hours! Wow, I didn't notice a thing! That probably explains why it looked like a ghost town most of the time. I would guess that forumotion was updating something or the server shut down for some reason. Believe me, I wouldn't just shut it down. If for some reason I don't want to run it anymore, I would give someone else like one of the mods control of it. If for some reason I die (lets face it, things do happen, car accident, get sick, get electrocuted...), the forum can be taken control of by one of the mods by submitting some kind form to forumotion. I have no idea where that form is but I have read that it does exist. I would guess you just ask about it on their support forum. It would be safe to assume something happened if you don't see me on for like 6 months and no one can get a hold of me.
Now, I hope I don't have a hit out on me just because someone wants the place
I should also add that if you ever get a "go daddy" or some other kind of domain name hosting site when trying to get to the forum, that means I didn't pay for the domain name. I will always try to renew the domain name because, if I don't, I would likely have to pay a lot more to get it back.

Re: Why was CEF off-line?
I was in and out of here Friday and Saturday several times while it was said to be down. I never had any trouble posting and reading. Some of my posts are during the time it was said to be down.

It was a EMP (electro-magnetic pulse) from outer space. What will be next?

Re: Why was CEF off-line?
Ya it was off-line for me from Friday afternoon to this morning. I also checked forumotion and they were down as well. I did put a temporary sub-forum on my forum throughout the weekend, to keep in touch if needed. I guess if it ever happens again, we will need some contact info between the admin and mods. Jacob, I emailed you from my forum, don't know if you got it or not.
Re: Why was CEF off-line?
It might be that the host changed IP and, as a consequence, the DNS. Propapgation of DNS can take up to 2 days for some ISP to refresh their cache.

So you are hosting it on your website or VPS?
Re: Why was CEF off-line?
Below was written by one of the tech guys on the forumotion support forum. The must have had some issues because lots of other people were having problems as well.
Hello,
The problem should be fixed now.
A DNS change has caused this problem. Now, the base DNS configuration has been restored.
Please clear your cache and cookies and check if this issue is fixed, as it should be.
If it's not, here are some different operations that can help to fix the issue :
Close your browser
Reboot your Internet connection
Clear the DNS cache with an ipconfig/flushdns process
If that still doesn't work, save your current DNS info somewhere else and try to change temporarily your DNS for the DNS provided by Google
If after all these operations, you still have the loading issues, please provide us :
The forum(s) concerned
A screenshot of the error message
Your ISP
Thank you very much to all of you for your patience
Re: Why was CEF off-line?
I seen that in forumotion's Facebook page. Basically, the DNS has to repopulate and it can take upto 3 business days.
