I have before me two NIB Black Widow's one with a plastic backplate and one with metal. The plastic backplate box is marked 1990 and the metal box is stamped 1988 and came with a 1988 Cox lineup flyer.

I assume it's somewhere between those years, but I was wondering if there was an exact date.

We bought 150 of them from a defunct kit manufacturer in Korea and the inserts were stamped "1989".

Yes, plastic and, more preciseley, the wording is " 1 04 89 " and came with the coloured insert.
