Spray bar removal
What's the best way to remove/reinstall the spraybar from a plastic backplate? What's the biggest I can drill out the venturi?
Thanks, Jim.
Thanks, Jim.

Re: Spray bar removal
Not having done it before, my best guess to remove it would be to heat it with a soldering iron until it's just hot enough to pull out. I have seen lots of threads where people re-install them with JB Weld. As far as the venturi size, a Killer bee has a venturi air inlet about as big as it can get and still draw fuel. But the size of the opening behind the reed varies too, as they are usually tapered, so I would guess the KB size is probably your limit there too. The black .049 and the red .051 KB backplates' dimensions are identical.JPvelo wrote:What's the best way to remove/reinstall the spraybar from a plastic backplate? It's a press fit. Just use a rod the same diameter as the spray bar and push it slow and steady. I did it just with the pressure of my hands. It only comes out in one direction. From the top if I remember correctly
As to the venturi hole. Go as large as you can go while still leaving enough lip for the reed to seal.

Re: Spray bar removal
To remove a spray bar I like to use a drill bit that is just a little smaller than the spray bar and put the flat end of the bit on the spray bar and push it out. It can only come out in one direction, I think (NOT SURE) that it gets pushed on the needle valve side. Measure the nipple and compare it to the body of the spray bar. The larger of the two does not go through the backplate.
I would be careful enlarging the hole for the venturi. If your engine is a high revver then it can be enlarged as large as the Killer Bee backplate hole. If the hole is any larger your fuel draw will suffer, causing lean runs. If, however, your fuel system is pressurized than your engine's ability to consume what you feed it is the limiting factor for venturi size.
Good luck and let us know how it all goes,
Bob
