Baby Ringmaster flight 2 and 3 (VIDEO !!)
Flights 2 and 3!
My 12yr old did the camera work so be warned. It flew OK I think I have to tear down the bee as it's getting tough to needle. I also experienced the plane come through the circle a couple times when I attempted a loop. Not sure what's going on there. I also lost power inverted in a loop, made for a quick forced landing
Loving it! Enjoy.........

I have a slight warp in the inboardwing on the TE. I wonder if that is why it flew across center when I went to do a loop?

Maybe it is. Looks like your flying skills are improving pretty well.cribbs74 wrote:I have a slight warp in the inboardwing on the TE. I wonder if that is why it flew across center when I went to do a loop?
If it's a slight warp it may not be a big problem. If you have to, you can rip off the cover and spray it with a water mist and brace it straight and it'll straighten up overnight in the air conditioned house. Or it might be the covering is too tight twisting it a little.
You might recommend the camera operator stand far enough away to get the whole field. Then they don't have to try and follow the plane. The second one is sideways. I tried to cock my head but that didn't work too good. maybe I'll stand my monitor on it's side next time I watch it.

Yeah sorry about that. My daughter is not the best camera operator. She has since been corrected. I'll keep an eye on the plane as it seems to do exactly what I tell it to and then it has a mind of it's own. If it was consistant then I would be sure that's the problem. The only variable is me!

Re: Baby Ringmaster flight 2 and 3 (VIDEO !!)
Forgot to mention, I have switched over to a cardboard runway and I find the release more controllable. I need to do as Ken suggested and slant the cylinder to the inboard wing and see if that helps my rough running after I loop. It seems like the fuel is frothing or maybe that's just what happens on these fixed pickup tanked engines. Also on the list is to go out to 35' lines now that I am more comfortable. I need more sky! As Kim would say.
I could go bladder, but the simplicity of the tanked bees saves some time plus a TD would overpower this thing.
I will try and get some better video once I strap a BW on the nose. Next thing on the list is to make a stooge. My kids are unreliable
I appreciate all the help and suggestions very much! Keep em coming!

Re: Baby Ringmaster flight 2 and 3 (VIDEO !!)
On your flat laps, she's flying level, so the wing might not be bothering it much. The wingtip weight is probably about right. Even when it's not windy on the ground, there could be some drafts coming over the tops of the trees that are grabbing it.
Man you are brave starting loops close to the ground. I see on some loops it does want to go up and over the top(good work staying with it), which I have had happen plenty of times with my Bean and the Chopper, but never the Satan, and so far not the Streak. The two latter of which, have the better power to weight ratio. The added power of the BW might help it slice through those drafts if that's the cause, but I'm still guessing.
You had talked about trying different props. What were you using in those flights?

I was using a Cox Rubber Duckie 5x3. I had some Tornado 5.5x3's but they kept running backward. Took a close look at the prop and in little tiny letters they say "pusher"
I have a ton of 5x4 Tornado props, but you guys said it was more for speed than torque.
It could be the wind over the tree tops, never thought about that. Could also have just been me! The warp is very slight, probably over shrank it.
I am gonna throw on the Widow and go for it.

That's the spirit. Check your balance, since the BW's 8cc tank is slightly longer than the 5cc Bee. Fly it first though, you may like it better. I learned the hard way to only change one thing at a time.cribbs74 wrote:...I am gonna throw on the Widow and go for it.

Good point. I could just throw the Widow top end and backplate on my Babe bee. It would probably weigh less seeing as the Widow backplate is plastic. It won't run as long but that may be a good thing!!!

OK Rusty!
BTW picked up a Sullivan Insta-just handle from my LHS at lunch. Both of my cox handles length adjustment nubs fell off when I went to wrap line around them.
