Built this one up from spare parts. I'm hoping to get about 14K RPM with a 6x3.

SureStart top end

Dragonfly muffler/throttle assy

Babe Bee metal back plate

TD spinner

LH starter spring with SnapStart cam (this combo works pretty well I think)

Brass driveplate

Nice little workhorse there. Is that a regular starter spring using the snap starter cam? I never thought of using that spring with a cam.

Thanks.

Yep, it doesn't wear down the prop, and it also completely disengages and doesn't rub against the cam robbing power. You just hook the spring onto the hub, wind back once, and wallah.

Cool!,,just finishing up a Dumas 1/2A SK Daddle JR boat,,that will have throttled TD .049 action. (prop drive)

Now that is a good idea.

I bought it built from Joe. It was cheaper than getting the kit, plus I don't have hardly any kit building experience.

Eventually I want to run either my Medallion or my TD on it. Using the Bee right now for sake of simplicity.

I see. As a tip,,add a phenolic thrust washer,,so you don't grind away case or drive washer material when in pusher mode with any engine you put on there.

Well, speaking from experience,,the little swamp buggy kit is a good one to cut your teeth on as far as construction. Instructions are straight forward, you have bulkheads and rib sections just like building a wing on a plane. it all translates over as far as general wood model construction is concerned.

In my terms, a 1/2A Airboat! (others might say 4x4 dune buggies for mudding and stuff)

I have a Dumas Lil Swamp Buggy.

Here is a video from TeeBee. (not mine)

Pretty cool.
I guess if your engine takes a drink, just shake it out and get it cranked up as soon as possible and boil all the water out and it'll be like it never happened. I'd get one for the swimming pool but my wife would kill me if I left an oil slick in it. Laughing

Lil swamp buggy will tear over just wet grass, or dry. They are a fun little airboat.

My friend has a .40 size J-3 Cub on floats. He has dunked it many times, but it never really hurt anything. He holds the nose down, and turns the engine over for about 30 seconds with an electric starter. Ran fine after that.
