Anyone having problems with site?
Any of you guys experiencing problems getting onto or around the forum guyS?
I keep getting 'server not found' flags when trying to get in and sometimes
navigating different threads. It's been happening for last few days and does it
on iphone, work and home PC's. Is it just over here boys or are you lot getting
the same ?
PS
When I pressed the 'send' button for this message it happened again.

Indra and Beez have had problems like this. Indra has not been able to get on for some time because of it. He just gets a completely white screen in the browser.

No problems here, but we have had several machines come thru the office the past few days that exhibited similar difficulties with the user being unable to reach certain websites. We diagnosed it as a re-director and ran each thru our battery of scanners. Some cleaned up, but one had to be completely reimaged.

The only issue I have is I have to log in every once in a while. More of a pain when I use my iphone.
Re: Anyone having problems with site?
There is supposed to be a big timed virus fire off next monday here in the US. Already infected comps will loose connection due to a malware bug that was loosed some time ago. Maybe you can shed some light on that Andrew.
I heard about it a few days ago and have been reloading updates every day to my crime fighters I have installed.

Re: Anyone having problems with site?
No problems for me. My internet was out last Sunday and Monday, but it was a bad cable between the router and modem.

Well, that's cool. That link is cracked Travis, or something, because everytime I clicked, it booted me offline. I open another tab right next to it and I am back on with the new tab (maybe never off to begin with). Is it a test link that is supposed to boot you off or ??

I have not been having any problems. Maybe you just need to clear your forum cookies.

Most of my light unfortunately comes from a 40 watt bulb!!
This infection differs from what is called a "zero day exploit", or a virus that is set to become active at a particular time.
On infected computers, the original hackers replaced the address of an official DNS server used to match website names (URL) with the IP (internet protocol) address of the website with their own DNS server.
If I were selling COX engines and wanted to improve my chances of getting business, I would pay the hackers to send someone to my site first. When you did a search, instead of getting Bernie's site or Matt's site, you would get my site. The purpose of a DNS server is to match names, which are easy for most of us to remember, with a series of numbers used to travel around the internet. Theoretically, you could type EXModelEngines.com in the address bar and be sent to my web site because the IP address of Matt's site was replaced by the hackers with mine. It's money driven.
After the FBI identified the bogus DNS servers and shut them down, they set up their own DNS servers with the bogus DNS addresses, to direct browsers to the correct web sites. On July 9th, the FBI is shutting down their substitute servers, so if your computer still has the bogus DNS addresses stored on them, when you launch your browser, your computer will be unable to resolve your desired website with it's IP address and you will get the dreaded "site not found" message.
You can check your computer out by using the sites the other guys have posted above. I expect the reason folks have not been able to reach some check sites is due to server overload with millions of people hitting the same server over a very short period of time.
Re: Anyone having problems with site?
I checked for that hijack a month or two ago and came up clean. But I'm meticulous about trimming the fat, watching my processes and paying attention to what's going on. Ccleaner and Malwarebytes get a lot of exercise. And nothing has ever tried to disable my av or firewall. After last week, I am running without my router though. That makes me a little uneasy.
I'm worried about my computer though. Some of my USB ports are failing after last week's storm which is when my internet access crashed. I heard the dadump sound of a USB access earlier and walked over to see Device not Recognized, so another one might be going. Not my backup drive or printer port apparently. That's all besides the mouse I have using USB right now and the mouse works still. That was one that died last week. I had to plug it into another one. Motherboard. I ran a restore of the previous day's Acronis backup and nothing changed. I don't want to need a new machine.
