MP JET .061

Re: MP JET .061
After it has been oiled or run (basically anytime it has any fluid in it) a seal forms between the glow plug and piston/cylinder sleeve causing the sleeve to come partially out if you just pull the glow plug straight out. When removing the glow plug I like to pull it up at an angle and break this seal. Just something to watch out for to hopefully help to avoid having to align the sleeve again.

I own a Fox 36 Combat Special with a two part button head. Just as Bob described, when you try to remove the head button, the entire sleeve either moves or comes out with it. I've scratched a index mark from the sleeve onto the case so this wouldn't be a problem on reinstalling things. I really don't know why some manufacturers don't place an index pin in the case with a little notch for it in the sleeve as it would save a whole lot of problems. Ken

I'm still salt and pepper. Mostly pepper, but the salt is gaining awfully quickly.

O.K. Rusty,
It's just about time we got to read about your experience with your new MP Jet. Don't keep us waiting too long.

I guess you're right. The Norvel cranks on the first flip and holds the needle setting indefinitely. Time to call it done. I have disassembled and inspected the MP Jet, got the zero nitro fuel, will make a 2x4 motor mount, and get on it.
I am going to take some time, weather permitting, Saturday and go fly. That should be good for forum entertainment too. I'm going to take the Li'l Satan, Kom-Bat and Stuntman23 to the field and Re-tune my reflexes as much as I can. I haven't posted as much amusing antics this Summer but there's still time to catch up.

Rusty, I'm still wanting to try flying again. My last incident didn't go so well. I found a picture of it. For me , it's going to be like starting all over again. Certain maneuvers like the wingover and the overhead 8 are quite difficult due to my arm not wanting to go all the way up. I wish you luck. I provided a pic of my son Shawn's plane the PT-19. Ken

Oh heck yeah, It's still fun, I've just had setbacks preventing me from playing this year, ever since January. I'm expecting, hoping anyway, for smooth sailing for a while now though.fit90 wrote:As long as it's all still fun it's all still good!
Ooh, I see. That's tough. I've never seen a PT-19 like that.Ken Cook wrote: Rusty, I'm still wanting to try flying again. My last incident didn't go so well. I found a picture of it. I'm lucky enough that my right arm still goes up enough to get the handle just over my head if I bend my elbow. Enough so the lines don't get caught on my nose. My left arm will not go over my head. What might help me is that I never used my arm much, mostly only wrist action, extending my arm enough to keep from getting wrapped up.
